I finally had some time to sit down and finish Crysis 3 and write my overdue review on it.
In Crysis 3 you play as Prophet, the main protagonist from the Crysis Series, and your goal is to stop the Ceph from wiping out all life on Earth. The beginning of the game really set the tone for the rest of the game. I was treated to one hell of an opening cutscene as Psycho and his team rescued prophet on a giant ship. Psycho gave prophet a gun and the rest was history as I snuck around assassinating people. I always thought Crysis 3 had the best first person shooting mechanics i’ve ever played. You can slide, climb, turn invisible, get an extra layer of armor over your armor, hack into networks for weapons or just to take control of a turret or alien, power kick cars across the screen and kill whoever it lands on, and you even sneak behind npc’s and break their neck. That’s a lot of things that you can do in just one game. I’ve never played a first person game that gave you the ability to do all of these things. In Far Cry 3 you can assassinate people but not in the way Prophet can. That dude is a beast and he destroys everything. Convinced that the Alpha Ceph is still alive despite everyone’s assurance that it’s not Prophet won’t give up believing because of the visions he received. He agrees to help Psycho put an end to Cell. This is beginning of an awesome journey that spans a jungle like New York City. Crysis 3 is more open then part 2 but not as big as the first Crysis game. I was disappointed in this at first but once I realized how long it took me to travel to the other side of an alien infested grassland I didn’t care. Sneaking around in the jungles of New York City is awesome and I really felt like a predator stalking, and silently killing my enemies with my bow.
Crysis 3 is breathtakingly beautiful. This is the best looking game I have on my laptop and everywhere I went I was treated with the most gorgeous visuals I’ve seen in a game. The grass moves along with my character as I walk through it, explosions are absolutely beautiful and look, and sound like actual explosions, the people in this game look amazing. There is great amounts of details in everyone, and everything in this game. The voice acting is spot on, the sound effects are amazing, and the story is really good. If you’ve never played a Crysis game before you would probably be a little lost if you just stepped into this game thinking it was just your average fps. Well it’s not, Crysis 3 tells one hell of a story in this trilogy and the ending to this game was a good one.
This game does not force you to play one way. You can either sneak your way through areas or blast your way through. I mixed up my tactics and did a bit of both and it worked out very well for me in the end.
Crysis 3 is an amazing game that tells one hell of a story. The only downside being it’s short length, and lack of difficulty. I think Crysis 2 was a lot harder then 3 simply because you didn’t have a bow. The bow really breaks the game in Crysis but I love using it and i’m sure that if I did a playthrough without the bow I would’ve been on here saying how hard this game was. Everything else in Crysis 3 works really well. The graphics are amazing, the soundtrack is some of the best i’ve ever heard in a game, the characters are awesome and all of them have awesome voices, the story is engaging from start to finish, and the gameplay is addictive. Crysis 3 may not be the best in the series but it’s not a bad game by any means. If this game was more open like the first one was and I could play as Psycho again then this game would definitely be legendary on all counts.
Crysis 3 seamlessly blends action and stealth together and in the end turned out to be one hell of a game. My final verdict for Crysis 3 is an 8/10. This is an awesome game and it’s earned my recommendation. The Crysis Series has become one of my favorite series in gaming and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this game.
