Skyrim Mod Review- Realistic Needs and Disease

Realistic Needs and Disease is a great little mod. It adds immersion to Skyrim by letting you eat food, drink water, and so much more. Are you the type of player that gets annoyed that your character in Skyrim can’t eat like everyone else? Or sit down after a hard quest and drink a pint of mead? If you are then this mod is for you. You’ll get messages in the top left hand corner of your screen letting you know how thirsty, hungry, or tired you are. Yes, you even have to sleep on a regular basis or it will effect you in the long run. Your stats will go down the more tired you are, so sleeping is now very important. To make matters worse, diseases are much worse now. If you contract a disease while out adventuring then cure it right away or you’ll suffer the side effects. They won’t be that bad at first but as more time goes by the worst you’ll get.

This mod even adds tents, and bedrolls for you to carry around with you on your travels so you won’t have to rush to an inn when you’re exhausted. If you’re a heavy drinker then your character will get drunk, and stumble around until he/she eventually passes out, or just falls flat their faces. If you don’t like a certain thing about the mod then you may simply turn it off. For example, lets say you don’t want your food to spoil at all, simply go to your mod menu by simply pressing the esc key, choose realistic needs, and disease, find food spoilage and turn it off. It’s that simple and I recommend playing with everything on in this mod. Another really neat feature with this mod is the ability to fill empty bottles you have in your inventory with water from rivers. Of course you might want to boil it first so you don’t catch anything but it adds that sense of immersion to the game that I thought Skyrim was missing. After I installed this mod I never turned it off, I enjoy Skyrim so much more now that there’s a sense of realism in it.

All the credit for this wonderful mod goes to perseid9 at He is one hell of a modder and you should check out more of his work if you like this. If you want the full immersive experience then run this mod along side Frostfall. Staying warm,  and healthy is an all new challenge and a lot of fun. Since I did call this a review i’ll go ahead and give Realistic Needs and Disease a 10/10. This mod is legendary on every level and I highly recommend you try this along side Frostfall.
