Is Skyrim To Easy For You? Here’s How To Make It Harder

Skyrim is a great game. The modding potential it has is unlimited and the replay value it has soars higher then any other game that’s come out in the last few years. That being said the game is easy. Even on the legendary difficulty level. Thankfully mods have fixed that problem with the game and i’m going to show you which ones to get so you won’t waste your time looking through countless gameplay mods for Skyrim.

Frostfall- Hypothermia Camping Survival

11163-1-1378661670   I’ve covered this mod in a previous post but Frostfall is an excellent mod. It makes Skyrim the harsh game it was supposed to be. In vanilla Skyrim you could literally walk around butt naked in the snow and not die from it. This mod changes that and it adds a layer of difficulty in Skyrim. Deciding between an armor set that gives you more defense or one that keeps you warm is a good example of what Frostfall does in Skyrim.

Requiem- The Roleplaying Overhaul

Requiem  Requiem does more then just make Skyrim harder it also completely revamps the perk trees. Requiem also makes every enemy in the game a challenge. Common bandits can one hit you but you can also one hit them as well. Requiem is a rewarding experience for anyone that wants a hardcore Skyrim experience.

Deadly Combat

Deadly Combat  Deadly Combat improves the combat in Skyrim by making the enemy a.i smarter. Your enemies will no longer just charge at you mindlessly. They’ll block more often when you strike, parry, they’re more aggressive, and if you’re fighting a group of them you’ve better watch your back. Deadly Combat makes Skyrim more fun to play and it’s rewarding when you kill a bandit chief because you know you earned it. If you play Requiem with Deadly Combat installed, and Frostfall, Skyrim will be one of the hardest games you’ve ever played.

Ultimate Combat

2013-07-11_00018  Ultimate combat is another combat mod for Skyrim. You can’t use this with deadly combat but in my opinion it’s better then deadly combat. Ultimate combat not only changes the way you fight enemies but it also gives the enemies you fight access to everything you can do. Mages will now attempt to heal themselves when you hurt them, bandits will shield bash you, perform a jumping charge attack, and various other new moves, draugrs will temporarily vanish when you try to hit them and appear behind you. It’s a lot of fun playing Skyrim with the ultimate combat mod.

Skyrim Redone

Skyrim Redone is similar to Requiem but not as hardcore. Skyrim Redone completely revamps Skyrim. Enemies are smarter, and react accordingly to what you’re attempting to do to them. The perk tree is completely redone, for the better, you even have access to brand new perks and they’re awesome. Spears are once again a part of the Elder Scrolls. There is so much content added with Skyrim Redone. I can’t play Skyrim without it. You can not have Skyrim Redone and Requiem on at the same time so choose you favorite one and go from there.

Combat mods, and game overhauls aren’t the only thing that can improve your Skyrim game. Lighting mods play a part in creating the perfect game from you too.

Realistic lighting Overhaul completely overhauls the lighting in Skyrim making it darker and more realistic. You’ll no longer walk into a bright cave. This can make the game more difficult because you’ll need a torch or night vision to see and you won’t see where every enemy is hiding. All of the mods I mentioned above are great. They aim to improve your Skyrim experience and make it more fun, and rewarding for you to play. I can’t play Skyrim without a good lighting mod, combat mod, and Skyrim Redone. It’s a completely different game with these mods on and I highly recommend giving them a shot if you haven’t already.

Realistic Needs and Disease is another really great mod to improve your Skyrim Experience. It makes eating, sleeping, and drinking essential in Skyrim and you’ll die without them. Add this on with Frostfall, Ultimate Combat, and Skyrim Redone and you’ve got yourself a complete Skyrim experience.

I know there are mods I haven’t covered but keep in mind that there are thousands of mods available for Skyrim and it’s just to much information to write in one article.

  2. Wow that was strange. I just wrote an very long
comment but after I clicked submit my comment didn’t appear.
Grrrr… well I’m not writing all that over again. Regardless, just wanted to say excellent blog!

  3. Thanks, I’m going to try out the mods you’ve recommended here. I didn’t like Skyrim because I thought it was too easy and dumbed down.

  4. Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of this website.

It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s difficult to get that “perfect balance”
between superb usability and visual appeal. I must say that you’ve done
a excellent job with this. Additionally, the blog loads extremely quick
for me on Opera. Excellent Blog!
