Micheal Sam Is Drafted To The St Louis Rams

There has been a bit of controversy about Micheal Sam ever since he came out of the closet and admitted to the whole world that he was gay. There was an uproar because many people feel like only “straight” men can play in the NFL and that no teammate would want to get tackled or touched by a gay man on the football field. Are we that ignorant?

Just a because a man is gay doesn’t mean he’s gay for every man that he sees. The media has really blown this situation out of proportion. Many NFL players have already said that it doesn’t matter if he’s gay or not as long as he can play football that’s all that matters.

I feel the same way. I think people need to stop hating on this man just because he’s gay and let him play some football. Being gay isn’t a disease. It’s not going to rub off on you and make you gay too. I have gay friends and I’m regularly around them. They know I’m not gay and they have never once tried anything on me. I shouldn’t even be writing about this. I should be saying how great of a football player that this guy is not defending gay rights, but that’s what the media has turned this into. This guy is a beast on the football field and will make his mark in the NFL by knocking quarterbacks on their asses. I knew he would get drafted late because of the fact that he’s gay, but honestly he should have gone in the first or second round because his talent on the football field.

The St. Louis Rams have just made history in a way. Maybe this will make other teams more open to a man’s sexuality instead of just ignoring them like every other team did this young man. The NFL Draft is officially over and I know I haven’t did a good job covering it. I will do a recap of the draft soon to make up for my lack of sports articles on here.

This is what Micheal Sam himself had to say on Twitter after he found out he was being drafted to the St.Louis Rams.

“Thank you to the St. Louis Rams and the whole city of St. Louis.”

He added in an interview that he had a chip on his shoulder for being added so late in the draft.

“I knew I was going to get picked somewhere,” he said. “Every team that passed me, I was thinking how I’m going to sack their quarterback.”

He added, “If we were playing the Vikings right now, I’d probably have three sacks.”

When Sam was chosen as St. Louis’s final pick in the draft the crowd erupted with cheers.

Here is Sam’s reaction after he found out he was going to the St. Louis Rams.

We’ll see next season how Micheal Sam will impact the St. Louis Rams defense. I expect Micheal Sam to play with a chip on his shoulder next season. I think he’s going to have a lot to prove to the general public next season.

  1. Assuming he has what it takes, I was glad to see him get drafted, that was until witnessing the freak show celebration!!!!

  2. Great article dude. You’re right, it is kind of sad when we have to get hung up focusing on why being gay in the league doesn’t matter, rather than discussing him as a normal talent, a possible future star. I’m really excited for him, the footage of him hearing that he got drafted is super awesome. Good for him. And good for the Rams.

    1. Thanks, and I agree with you. The media is so focused on him being gay that they completely ignored the fact that this kid is a great football player. I think he’s going to do big things with his career simply because of the fact that he was literally ignored by 31 other teams and that the Rams were the only ones willing to give him a shot. Being gay shouldn’t matter in this day and age.
