Child Of Light First Impression

Child of Light is yet another game that I’m playing from Ubisoft. The only difference between this and Watch Dogs is that Child of Light isn’t a broken piece of shit right now.

Child of Light is inspired by Final Fantasy, but unlike Final Fantasy this game is actually pretty good. It’s better than good. Right now it’s pretty fantastic. In Child of Light you play as a child named Aurora. She woke up in a mysterious land and is trying to find her way back home.

homepage_slide_child_of_light_screenshot_village_127572Child of Light is a really good looking game. The environments are filled with detail  that’s backed by an amazing soundtrack. The dialogue so far is great, but I hate the fact that it’s not voice acted because some parts of the game are.

I think having partial voice acting is really disappointing. I hate when games do that. Thankfully the dialogue here is excellent and I actually laughed out loud a few times because of the funny things that Aurora has said so far.

Child of Light is filled with enemies to fight and simple puzzles to solve. If there is one repetitive thing about Child of Light it has to be the battle system. I’m just not a fan of turn based games because they’re boring to play. Child of Light isn’t boring, but I think if I played it for more than two hours at a time it would quickly become that way because of the lack of innovation in it’s battle system.

Flying around this beautiful game, solving puzzles, and finding useless treasure is a blast though and I’m really glad I decided to give this game a chance. So far my wife and I are having a lot of fun with it.

  1. I started playing this a little while ago and, although I’ve had to stop due to work, I’ve found it really enjoyable so far and I’m glad I’m not the only one. I do have to agree with you to an extent on the battle style, though I’m hoping as I go along it’ll become harder and therefore more enthralling.

    1. I’m a few hours in and I’ve fought two bosses and just breezed right through them. So far this game is incredibly easy and I think that’s why I’m finding it so boring to actually play.

      1. Same, but maybe that’s the point. This might be a game for everyone so, even on the normal setting, it’s a breeze to play. But when you have so much healing opportunity no wonder it is so easy. Perhaps on a harder setting that the game might become more challenging for more experienced gamers.

      2. True, but when the bosses come around it takes you out of the tense action a bit when you can use Igniculus to heal your characters so that the damage given is negligible. I’ve only had to use a potion once, but the rest of the time, I just use Igniculus so when a battle ends my health is near full.

      3. I have honestly never used him to heal. I use him to slow up the enemies and I can usually get one or two good attacks in before they can strike me a single time.
