The Gaming Community

One thing I will never understand is the gaming community. If you go to any public forum on Steam, Origin, Uplay, or any gaming related website you’ll find some of the most disrespectful people leaving the most vulgar, and stupid comments you’ve ever read in your life.

I know this is a random article, but I’ll get to my point shortly. I was browsing over the Steam Forums and noticed that a very large amount of people are complaining about the upcoming dlc packs for Dark Souls II.

Honestly I think more content for Dark Souls II is always a good thing, but when I decided to voice my opinion on the subject I had people disrespecting me for no reason. Honestly I don’t care whenever someone idiot sitting behind his/her keyboard decides to try and start an argument with me, but I realized that I really don’t like the gaming community.

Why would I want to be around such disrespectful people? The truth is gamers as a whole are idiots. I know that’s not the popular thing to say, especially since I mostly write about games everyday, but it’s how I feel and I’m reminded of that everyday.

If I’m watching a video on Youtube and decide to read the comments it’s filled with people disrespecting each other because they don’t share the same opinion. It’s like the majority of gamers refuse to grow up and have an actual conversation instead of trying to kill each other in the comments section.

PC gamers are probably worst than console gamers. Console gamers like to argue about the “next gen” shit all the time They argue that their big box is better than the other guy’s big box and they try to “prove it” by making death threats, throwing up the fact the PS4 can run games in 60fps, and just acting like a bunch of kids.

PC gamers would bash on you if they don’t see the game you’re talking about in your library on Steam. They’ll go as far as to get you banned from the Steam forums because you don’t have it in your Steam library. Not every PC game is on Steam. I have games on Origin, Uplay, and about 27 DRM free games including the entire Witcher trilogy.

People don’t think of that when they do stupid things though, but that’s a different topic for a different day. My point is they’ll flat out disrespect you if you for no reason at all. Next thing you know one of the dumbass Steam moderators would ban you without even reading through the entire conversation.

I’ve already been banned twice because of this and I decided to publicly call every Steam moderator an idiot because they obviously don’t have very good reading comprehension skills. If they did they would have never banned me in the first place.

I know some of you might have a different opinion on the gaming community. This is just one man’s opinion on the subject and I’m not trying to change anyone’s mind on the subject. Actually, I am trying to send a message to all of the people that have just started gaming or are curious about it.

Only play with people that you know because you’ll be bombarded by trolls trying to force their opinions on you. If you like a game and everyone else hates it that doesn’t mean that you have to hate it too, but you would be surrounded by people bashing your opinion and calling you all sorts of names just because you like something.

Is that the kind of people you want to socialize with? I only game with people that I personally know in some way. I mostly game with my wife and every time we decide to invite randoms to our game we end up kicking them out because they the only thing that they’re interested in is her instead of the game that we’re supposed to be playing together.

Playing games is supposed to be fun. It’s supposed to bring people together, but the truth is doesn’t. It brings out the worst in people some times and I don’t know what to think about it.

  1. I’d like to think that in general gamers are nice people. Unfortunately the minority of idiots are the most vocal. Happens everywhere on the net. Go to Youtube for example. The comments section is packed with fools, even on non-gaming topics.

    1. That’s true and it’s a shame that I even had to write this article about gamers. I’ve met very few nice gamers. I usually just play with people that I know unless I’m playing Titanfall or something like that.
