I recently had a chance to try out the closed beta to Archlord 2 and it was alright. The most important thing for an MMO to have in my opinion is fun gameplay and Archlord, so far, is actually pretty generic in this aspect.
I thought we were done with the click on a enemy in order to fight them type of MMOs, but every now and then they show up and this is one of those games. The animations are stiff and all of the quest that I’ve encountered so far are your average fetch or kill x amount of enemies quest. There is nothing new about this game and honestly I’m wondering what was the point in making another Archlord game when the first looks better than this one.
I have this game fully maxed out and it’s just alright. Nothing will wow you in the graphics department of this game, but that doesn’t really matter to me because I’m actually having fun in this game. I know the gameplay is generic and quest so far suck, but there are some pretty good things going for Archlord 2 right now.
The fact that I can switch between being a warrior and a mage with the click of a button is great. I can go from shooting fireballs to murdering everything with my big ass sword in the blink of an eye. I like how you have weapon levels next to your level. If you’re a level 25 that doesn’t mean that your weapon level is also a 25. What if you regularly switch stances?
That means you’ll probably have a two handed skill level of 15 and a staff skill level of 10 or 11. When you level up that doesn’t mean your weapons do. It takes time and you’ll have to kill plenty of enemies to do that or use experience scrolls to help you level up your weapon skills.
I want to try and get to a high level to see what type of combinations that I do, but this game is repetitive as hell and I honestly don’t see myself playing this for long. If you’re currently playing Wildstar, Guild Wars 2, Tera, or any other MMO that’s already out right now than there is no reason for you to play Archlord 2.
