Magic 2015 is the latest installment in the Duels of the Planeswalker franchise.
In Magic 2015 you play as a nameless Planeswalker. You’re tasked with defeating Garruk and saving the world before he destroys each plane in existence.
The gameplay is just like playing the card game. A veteran of the Magic card game would do just fine in this game. You simply have to reduce your opponents life force down to zero to win the match. In order to do that you’ll have to have plenty of land cards in order to cast your chosen card that you wish to play with.
This is a simple, yet addictive formula that’s worked since this game has started. Magic 2015 is a short game. It’ll only take you about 2 hours to complete the entire game if you’re good. If you’re a noob it’ll take you about 4 to 5 hours.
You can also play competitively against other players online. This is where this game truly shines because no duel will ever be the same. I love going up against random opponents to test my might as a Planeswalker.
There is story told this time around, but it’s terrible. Cutscenes happen randomly and the voice acting leaves much to be desired. Nothing about the plot was remotely interesting and that’s a shame. They had a chance to do something different with the series and failed at it.
Aside from the campaign mode there really isn’t anything you can do besides play online or collect new cards by repeating the same battles over again. I wouldn’t exactly call it repetitive, but if you’re not a fan of the series this might bore you.
Overall I think Magic 2014 was a little better than 2015. While this game has the exact same gameplay mechanics. The terrible story and lack of interesting things to do after you complete the game leaves much to be desired.
