Metro 2033 Redux First Impression

For the last few days I’ve been playing the redux version of Metro 2033. I think it’s better than the original and not just because it has better graphics. Metro 2033 Redux has more going for it than a simple facelift. This isn’t Tomb Raider Definitive Edition. If you remake a game it should be done like this. Everything in this game has been improved in some way.

The gameplay is better, the graphics are better, and there are some new areas and fights added into the game. I’ve always loved Metro and I think you would be doing yourselves a disservice by not playing the redux version of this game. I can understand if you don’t want Last Light, but 2033 feels like a completely different game.

Metro 2033Metro 2033 is a lot creepier than I remember. It could just be me, but I think the ambient noise has been improved too. Metro is a unique game. It’s much scarier playing above ground than it is playing in the underground metros because of the fact that you can suffocate if you’re not fast enough or get eaten by a flying monster. You can’t go in the water because of the radiation, you can’t stay out in the open for too long because one of those flying beast will lift you up into the sky and throw you somewhere, and you have to keep an eye on your watch so you know how much oxygen you have left.

Metro 2033 Redux is an awesome game. This is the way a remake should be done in games.
