Star Conflict First Impression

I was randomly browsing Steam today and came across a MMO called Star Conflict. As soon as I saw some of the screenshots I was sold. I’m a huge fan of anything that takes place in space and there has been a lack of good games that do that lately.

The first thing I did when I booted up Star Conflict was familiarize myself with the controls. I went through the whole tutorial. Usually tutorials are too long and pretty boring, but Star Conflict got right to the point and I walked out confident enough to try out some pvp action.

Before I describe the pvp I’ll go ahead and describe what this game is. Star Conflict is a MMO/Space Action game. You can fly your own plane in outer space while doing PVP or PVE missions. The controls are very solid and flying around space is easy.

Star Conflict is a beautiful game. It’s one of the better looking MMO’s on the market right now. It also has some pretty deep customization options, but from what I can tell you have to buy some of the better gear with real money and that usually pushes me away from games like this.

Star-Conflict_6The gameplay is where Star Conflict shines. I entered a pvp Skirmish and it was a lot of fun. I was shooting pass people with my thrusters, and blasting them away with my rockets. You only get a limited number of rockets so be careful that you don’t miss your shot or you’ll have to wait for the ability to cool down before you can shoot again.

Usually in aerial combat games I really suck and I’ll be the first one to admit that, but I’ve never played one on PC. I’ve always used a controller and I always found it very hard to control that way. With my mouse and keyboard I had no problems finding my mark. I even had the highest score on my team in my very first match. I had 9 kills and 7 assists. It’s not a great score, but it’s not terrible either.

303523Star Conflict is a lot of fun, but I am worried that the fun I’m having will fade away because of the pay to win model that the game has. Or I could end up loving it like I do Warframe. The difference between this and Warframe is the fact that you don’t have to buy anything to be successful in Warframe, but I don’t think this game has that option and if it does I haven’t come across it yet.

If you want to try Star Conflict you can because it’s free to play. You literally have nothing to lose by downloading this game.
