The remake to the Gamecube’s version of Resident Evil is finally here. This is one of the few games that I actually preordered. My first few hours of Resident Evil HD Remaster was fantastic. This game made me nostalgic on so many levels. The zombies are actually zombies, Resident Evil looks amazing, and I didn’t even mind the horrible voice acting.
There are some changes that have been made to this game, but you can choose if you want them or not before you start playing. There is a new control scheme that allows you to get around much easier than the normal one. There is also a widescreen mode that lets us play the game in full 1080p and 60fps [on the PC version].
The PC version of Resident Evil HD Remaster is by far the superior version of it. You can have the anti aliasing on FXAA 3 HQ preset. The shadows are also much better on the PC as well. The console versions of the game look great, but if you want the best experience I would recommend you play on the PC since it runs at 60 fps and has better graphics than it’s console counterparts.
In addition to the graphical changes to Resident Evil we also get an extra costume for Chris and Jill to wear. You can play as Hulk Chris from Resident Evil 5 or Jill from Resident Evil 5.
The gameplay is the same from the old classic. Nothing has changed about that, but moving around is a lot easier if you use the new control scheme. All of the puzzles are still the same; zombies are still lifeless idiots too. Since I haven’t played this game in over 10 years it’s almost like I’m playing it for the very first time again. I don’t remember where everything is or what I’m supposed to do next.
I’m pretty sure that we’re going to get the rest of the Resident Evil games ported over to the PC, PS4, and Xbox One since this game is doing so well. I honestly wouldn’t mind playing through part 5 again with my wife. Playing Zero again would be awesome too.
I would recommend Resident Evil to any Resident Evil fan. It’s still a great game after all these years.
