My Favorite Gaming Platforms Right Now

I have a lot of consoles and all of you know that I love gaming on my PC too. There has been some fantastic games that’s come out so far this year and we’re not even half way through it. Theses are my favorite game platforms that I spend the most time playing.

5. Nintendo Wii

Wii-Console

Since the Wii U is backwards compatible [ unlike the new “next gen” consoles ] I’ve been spending a lot of time catching up on some Wii games that I’ve never played. There are some fantastic games on the Wii and it makes me hopeful for the future of the Wii U.

4. Xbox One

The Handsome Jack Collection, and Revelations 2 is what’s keeping me on my Xbox One. I decided not to pick up Dark Souls II because the best version is on the PC. I’ve racked up over 75 hours on Revelations 2, and about 60 on The Pre – Sequel. I haven’t touched Borderlands 2 yet, but I will once I’m done playing on the moon.

3. Wii U

The Wii U is a fantastic console. When it’s late at night and my wife and kids are asleep I don’t even need to turn on my tv to play my Wii U. I can use the gamepad like a 3DS and just play that way. The Wii U has some really great games and if I decided to do my top 10 games of 2014 again it would have some Wii U games on it.

2. PC

The PC has been my go to platform for over two years now. In that time I’ve managed to acquire about 200+ games. Games like Skyrim, Fallout, and the newly released Pillars of Eternity all play great on the PC and they have great modding potential. Pillars of Eternity and Street Fighter have been my games of choice lately.

1. The New 3DS

This is not my new 3DS. I have a sexy Majora’s Mask skin on mine.

I decided to jump back into handheld gaming so I went out brought the new 3DS and I haven’t put it down since I purchased it. Fire Emblem Awakening, Etrian Odyssey The Millennium Girl, Fantasy Life, and Etrian Mystery Dungeon are amongst my favorite games that I’ve purchased so far. I’ve racked up a ton of hours on my new 3DS and I don’t plan on stopping any time soon.

    1. PC seems to be most people’s platform of choice these days. I love my PC, but I’ve been spending way too much time on my 3DS. I’m trying to playthrough Etrian Mystery Dungeon, and I just started a new character on Fantasy Life.

    1. Nice choices :]. I’ve never played the Vita, but I’ve always been curious about it. I don’t think it holds up when compared to the 3DS, but that’s just one guy’s opinion :].

  1. I’ve been going back and forth between games on the Xbox One and the Wii. Though if I had more time to game right now, I think I’d favor the Xbox 360. I’ve got a decent backlog of games for that particular system, plus it’s just so familiar. I really wish Microsoft had kept a similar menu system for the Xbox One.

    1. I haven’t owned a 360 in about 5 years. The Xbox One isn’t very confusing to navigate if you have Windows 8. It’s pretty much the same thing. I do miss my Xbox 360 though. Games like Fable 2 never went to PC :[.

  2. I have been playing more regularly on my PS3 lately (replaying Far Cry 3). My PC has become more of my go to machine though. I will play on the 3DS every now and then, but maybe not as much as my GameCube.

    1. The PC has more games. I think that’s why I prefer it over consoles these days. I miss playing Demon’s Souls on my old PS3 :].

Far Cry 3 is an excellent game. I played it on PC a few years ago. I had a lot of fun. Especially after I modded it.

Can’t go wrong playing the Gamecube :].

      1. I have started looking for games for it again, but they are in price. I saw a pre-owned copy of Beyond: Two Souls in GAME today, and it was cheaper than some second hand GameCube games.

      2. For the cheapest games I always go to PC first. I shop around on G2A or Greenmangaming and I always find something really good for less than half it’s price. I got Pillars of Eternity for around $20.

      3. Steam hasn’t had a good sale in quite a while imo. If you like old school RPGs I would recommend Pillars of Eternity. It has a few bugs, like all of Obsidian games, but it’s good if you can find it for $20.
