The 5 Best Things From Xbox’s Gamescom

I wasn’t expecting much from Gamescom this year. I even tweeted how boring it was because I started watching it when Minecraft was on the screen, but after I went back and watched the whole show I was pleasantly surprised to see how good the show was before it became all about Halo.

5. Rise of The Tomb Raider

Rise of The Tomb Raider looked really good, but the reason why it’s not higher on the list is because I don’t know how much replayability it will have. I only played the first Tomb Raider a single time because it lacked replayability. There was no reason for me to want to experience the average main campaign again. Here’s to hoping that the sequel is much better.

4. Backwards Compatibility With All Games For Gold Titles

This was a big announcement from Microsoft. All of the free games with gold for the Xbox 360 will also be available on Xbox One. This means that we’ll be getting four free games a month and we’ll be able to play them all on our Xbox Ones. That is awesome news.

3. Windows 10 Is Coming To Xbox One

The Xbox dashboard will get a overhaul to a new Windows 10 look in November. It looks stunning and I can’t wait to have it on my Xbox. I was never a fan of the Windows 8 dashboard on the Xbox One.

2. Quantom Break

I’ve been looking forward to Quantom Break for a really long time now and what I saw today only made me want the game that much more. Quantom Break has an all star cast of actors portraying these characters, but we have yet to see if they’ll perform their roles as well as they do on tv. I have faith in Remedy though. They’re known for making some fantastic games and I think Quantom Break will be added to that list.

1. Scalebound

Scalebound blew me away. I didn’t have any hopes for this game at all because all we saw was a CGI trailer, but we actually saw the game in action this year and I really liked what I saw. It was like a mix of Devil May Cry, and Monster Hunter. Here’s to hoping that the whole game is co op and not just the boss fights so I can play through this with friends.

  1. I was saying to my colleague Will about the launch date for Quantum Break. I personally think they made a good move with the April 2016 date. While the game does look impressive, I did wonder that it may be buried should it release in winter 2015 under the other large AAA titles. Sending a new IP out (as good as it looks) can always be a tricky one especially when the likes of Halo, Gears, COD, Tomb Raider etc are all within weeks of each other.

The Games with Gold BC is actually really really cool. I’m not an Xbox One owner myself yet, but they are certainly making massive strides and gauging my interest more and more.

    1. I have an Xbox One, Wii U, and PC. I’m really looking forward to Scalebound. I really liked what I saw. Crackdown also looks really good, but we didn’t see very much of it.

I have faith in Remedy. They’ve made some fantastic games and I think Quantom Break will be really good.
