Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Is Horrible

I went over to The Cursed Son’s house on Halloween with my brats and watched him play some Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and it literally made me sleepy…

Halloween was a bad day for me because I only got four hours of sleep the night before so I was pretty tired when I showed up at my mom’s house on Halloween. My kids were happy stuffing their faces with candy while The Cursed Son and I decided to go in his room and play some Syndicate because he had recently ordered it from Gamefly.

What I witnessed was about 45 minutes of late gameplay and pure boredom in it’s finest that only Ubisoft can deliver with their Assassin’s Creed franchise. Syndicate did nothing to convince me to add it to my game collection. The story missions that I experienced were dull, generic, and boring.

The female character, while nice, is only there to cater to female gamers. There’s nothing wrong with that, but her character was stale and the cutscene between her and that other female assassin was fucking horrible on all levels. I knew exactly what would happen next and I rolled my eyes when I was right. That bitch got pushed out the window and escaped with the item in the worst boss fight I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing.

Of course The Cursed Son thought the same as I, which is really rare by the way, because he asked me if it was okay for him to put WWE 2K16 back in the Playstation 4. I had no problems objecting to that because I was half asleep when he asked me the question. How can I sort of like Unity, but completely dislike almost every aspect of Syndicate. It’s simple when I think of my reasons… I’m tired of Assassin’s Creed. There are more Assassin’s Creed games in the last few years then Madden games.

2864168-assassins_creed_syndicate_gang_leaderUbisoft needs to slow down with these games, but we all know they’re not going to. They’re going to milk this franchise until there’s nothing left to milk and then they’re going to move on to Far Cry.

The male character in Syndicate wasn’t much better than his female counterpart to be honest. I really hated the outfit he was wearing and I thought the city was pretty boring when compared to previous Assassin’s Creed games.

Graphically this game looks a little worst than Unity. I noticed a ton of muddy textures, and the pop ins were atrocious at times. I’m really scratching my head on how this game is getting such good scores from everyone. Maybe I’m in the minority here, but in my honest opinion this game only got good scores because we can play as a female assassin this time around.

Syndicate doesn’t tell a good story, doesn’t have memorable character, from what I’ve experienced so far, and is just as generic, and lifeless and Unity was, but it’s a 9/10 right? I think I’ll pass.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of the game of course. Don’t take this opinion piece as a review of the game or anything else because it’s just “my” opinion of the game.

  1. Ouch. That’s a bummer you hated it so much. I actually liked Unity for the most part (more than most, I’m sure), and I genuinely like the series regardless of franchise fatigue. Still looking forward to checking it out, but hey, at least you figured out you weren’t interested before pulling the trigger with your wallet, right?

    1. I have to thank my nephew for showing me so much of the game on his PS4. I knew it wasn’t a day one buy, but after what I experienced I don’t want any part of the game.

Unity wasn’t terrible, but since it came after Black Flag I had high expectations for it. Syndicate on the other hand is really boring and lifeless in my opinion.

      1. I expected Syndicate to fair better since Unity was the team’s first foray in to current-gen hardware, but the characters, location, and fun factor weigh heavier than pretty graphics and general stability I suppose.
