Top 10 Games of 2015

Lunaliah and I put our heads together and chose 10 games that we think surpassed every other game that we’ve played this year. These are our top 10 games of 2015.

10. Renowned Explorers International Society

Renowned Explorers is a gem of a game. It’s small, but offers so many hours of fun gameplay that we couldn’t put it down. It’s wacky gameplay, and humor helped secure it’s place on our list.

9. Nobunaga’s Ambition

Skirmish(Far View)

This is another game that flew under the radar and didn’t get much attention when it released, but it’s absolutely fantastic. Nobunaga’s Ambition has a steep learning curve and isn’t for beginners if you’re just getting into strategy games, but once you do learn the way everything works you’ll be as addicted as we were.

8. The Witcher 3

witcher-3-wild-hunt

The Witcher 3 is the end of Geralt of Rivia’s story and boy did it go out with a bang. Even though The Witcher 3 fell short of surpassing it’s predecessors it still told a great story and had some really interesting side quest. Unfortunately the gameplay is what held this game back from truly being what it was hyped up to be and that’s why it’s so low on our list. That’s not taking anything away from the great experience that I personally had with this game.

7. Invisible Inc.

Do you like stealth games? How about Xcom? If your answer is yes to both of those questions then you’ll love Invisible Inc. It’s a strategy/stealth game. Lunaliah and I were very skeptical walking into this game, but it turned out to be one of the best games we’ve played all year long. It’s difficult, and has some fantastic gameplay. The only downside is it’s short length.

6.  Grey Goo

The RTS genre made a big comeback with Grey Goo. This game is fantastic and I regret not having the time to review it. Lunaliah and I loved every moment of this game. Who would have thought that beating the shit out of things with giant blobs of goo would be so much fun? Well it is and the main campaign wasn’t bad either. It gave us a story and some awesome gameplay. If you’re an RTS player that’s tired of playing Starcraft or low budget RTS games give Grey Goo a shot.

5. Mad Max

2015-09-06_00003

Mad Max is the best ported game I’ve ever played on PC. I didn’t experience a single bug in my entire playthrough of the game. I played for 55 hours while Lunaliah played for about 30 and we never once had any complaints about the stability of this game. The game itself is great. This is the best game we’ve had based off of a movie of all time. Mad Max has great customization, brutal gameplay, great graphics, and told a pretty good story too. What more can you ask for?

4. Yoshi’s Woolly World/Ori And The Blind Forest

Yoshis-Woolly-World-Logo

Is this cheating? We enjoyed these games so much that we couldn’t choose one or the other so we ended giving them both a tie. Yoshi is the most creative game that’s released this year. Nothing comes close to the creativity of this game. The gameplay is great and the fact that it has local co op makes it that much better.

Ori and The Blind Forest has a great story that’s told without much voice acting. This game also has great gameplay, a beautiful soundtrack, and is just overall great at everything it set out to do and I found myself going back months after I had already completed the game. Unfortunately this is another title that I never got around to reviewing, but I am planning on writing one for it soon.

3. Shadowrun Hong Kong

I’m a huge fan of the Shadowrun games. Shadowrun Returns was a great game. When Dragonfall released I didn’t think the series could get much better, but I was wrong. Shadowrun Hong Kong is the best game in the series. Lunaliah and I both agreed that Dragonfall told a better story while Hong Kong has the better gameplay.

2. Fallout 4

2015-12-16_00019

Fallout 4 did not disappoint us in the slightest. Our combined hours in this game is already over 230. I took a brief break to focus on playing the number 1 game on this list. Many people complained about Fallout 4’s graphics. We didn’t have a problem with them. Fallout 4 is the best Fallout has ever been up to this point and Bethesda finally gave us a Fallout game that has fun gameplay. This game plays like a modern shooter should play and it’s better for it.

  1. Xenoblade Chronicles X

xenoblade-chronicles-x

What can we say that wasn’t already said in the review of Xenoblade Chronicles X? This game is the Skyrim of JRPGs in my opinion. My first playthrough of Xenoblade was 131 hours. In 131 hours I still haven’t discovered all of the world map. There are still areas that are unknown to me and that’s what I love about this game. Xenoblade Chronicles X is an open world game done right and it is our game of 2015.

Honorable Mentions:

Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires

Resident Evil Revelations 2

Deathtrap

Pillars of Eternity

I can’t wait to see what next year has in store for us.

  1. Why is The Witcher 3 so low on this! You put garbage like Fallout 4 above it and games that people have never heard of over games like Phantom Pain, Tomb Raider, and Assassin’s Creed. LOL! You know The Witcher 3 is GOTY and you obviously did this for clicks. How dumb are you?

    1. I removed the profanity from your comment.

That being said this is “our” top 10 list. It’s not here for your approval and I could care less who agrees or disagrees with it.

    2. If you venture out a little further, you will notice that there is a considerable number of people who do not like witcher 3 because of the mediocre gameplay.

      1. That’s what I tried telling this guy, but some people think that if it’s not number 1 then I’m being disrespectful to the game. The fact that it made the top 10 means it’s a great game in my opinion. It’s just not my favorite game.
