Fallout 4 Getting A Survival Mode?

Fans are eagerly awaiting new content for Fallout 4 and a recent hint from Bethesda might mean that the wait is almost over for us, but I’m more interested in their survival mode hint.

Fallout 4 is a great game, but it’s missing some things. Survival mode is right at the top of my list and Bethesda seems to know that. The survival mode in Fallout New Vegas was great and I’m glad that it’ll be making it’s way to Fallout 4. The big question is when are we getting it?

I would love to be able to eat, drink, and sleep to stay alive in Fallout 4. I still wish Skyrim had something like this. Mods have fixed that, but it would be nice if Bethesda showed more support to that game when it was in it’s prime.

Fallout 4 is going to have a lot of future content. I have no doubt about that. The hard part, for some people, is waiting for that content to come. I’ll be happy with modding tools for now. Mods will hold me over until we get some official DLC announced for Fallout 4 and I can’t wait for survival mode.

  1. Fallout 4 was littered with stimpaks, so I never felt that survivalist mentality. Having to juggle hunger, dehydration, and sleep would be pretty intense. Significantly reducing ammo drops would be fun and would make me want to invest in a hybrid melee/gun build. Less cap finds would actually make me want to use Charisma to charm more caps as a reward instead of feeling like an asshole–“do I want to be morally just or do I want to eat tonight?” was never a thought that crossed my mind in the normal mode. I’m interested to see how this plays out.

    1. I played on very hard and I was always pretty low on ammo, before the make your own ammo mod :], and I never had more then 5 stimpaks on me. What I don’t like about the difficulty of the game is that it just turns enemies into bullet sponges. It takes two clips to drop one super mutant on harder difficulties. I wouldn’t mind having less ammo if it took less ammo to kill enemies.

The caps are incredibly easy to get once you’re a higher level. I would prefer less cap drops too.
