Well… I can’t say I’m surprised by this bit news that just popped up in my email.
When I first learned of Fable Legends I didn’t hesitate to share my disgust with the game. It was a far cry from what a new Fable game should have been. It was an online multiplayer game that has us teaming up with random people to fight a “villain” that was also controlled by another player.
After a few rounds I quickly grew tired of Fable Legends. It was not the game I was hoping to play. When I saw the name Fable in the title I was hoping for something similar to what we had with the first two Fable games. I would even prefer something closer to part 3 if that meant getting a actual Fable RPG again.
It’s no surprise that Fable Legends is being cancelled before it sees the light of day. No one was looking forward to playing this game. Half of the people I’ve talked to showed very little interest Fable Legends or forgot it was an upcoming game. You don’t see this game in any top 10 upcoming games of 2016 or see any random articles about how much people anticipating Fable Legends.
Lionhead literally dug their own grave with Fable Legends. It’s another failed Fable game and unfortunately it’s most likely their last shot at redeeming this once great franchise because Microsoft is discussing whether or not to shut down Lionhead Studios.
As a Fable fan I’m sad to learn of this, but from a business standpoint I can completely understand why they’re thinking about doing this. How many years has it been since Lionhead produced a successful game for Microsoft. I’ll be here why you try and think of a recent success story from Lionhead.
Since Fable Legends is shutting down I can talk about it and I plan on writing a article with more details on why I hate the game so much and why it being cancelled doesn’t bother me.
If you were one of the few people looking forward to Fable Legends you might want to go play something else instead because it’s never going to see the light of day.
