Hit Or Miss – I am Setsuna, Ninja Turtles, Total War, And More

This month has been packed with games so far and I expect the next few months to be no different. Here’s what I think of the games that released this month and are about to release next month.

HomeFront: The Revolution:

Lets start this list with a game that’s been called shit by just about every major developer out there. I’ve spent about 10 hours in Homefront so far and I like it. It’s no near as bad as everyone made it sound and I’m glad I brought it. It has bugs, but I can think of more broken games on release then this one. Tomb Raider, Batman, and Xcom 2 comes to mind. If you like Far Cry, and Crysis and want to experience them in a different setting then try Homefront out. I don’t recommend grabbing it for $60 though.

The Verdict – Hit When on Sale!

Total War: Warhammer

overview_02

Total War: Warhammer is my dream come true for Total War games. It’s everything I ever wanted in a new Total War game, but I’ve learned my lesson with buying Creative Assembly games on day one. I’m going to wait awhile before I jump into this and it pains me to do this, but for now Total War: Warhammer is a miss.

The Verdict – Miss

Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan

I’m a huge Ninja Turtles fan, but this game has done all the wrong things. First of all there’s no local co op like previous Ninja Turtle games have and second it’s $40! That’s way too expensive for a game that I’ll most likely beat in 5 or 6 hours. Platinum Games aren’t the only ones on this list making overpriced games…

The Verdict – Miss

I am Setsuna

I-Am-Setsuna

Everyone is calling this the new Chrono Trigger, but I honestly look at it like your average Square Enix Jrpg. The trailer was nice and all. but it still looks like your typical Square Enix game and I can’t see myself paying $40 for it.

I would consider playing this if it was cheaper, but it’s so I’m not getting it. We’ve got quality titles like Child of Light, Ori and The Blind Forest, and Salt and Sanctuary for way less money.

The Verdict – Miss

Looks like I won’t be investing time into any of these games except Homefront, since I already own it, but that doesn’t mean I think they’re all bad games. I am Setsuna might be fun, but I can’t see myself playing something like that for $40. I’ll wait for it to drop down to $10 before I buy.

I know I’m going to own Total War: Warhammer eventually and love the crap out of it, but I refuse to buy it right now because I don’t trust Creative Assembly anymore.

      1. A huge miss without local co-op. The fuck were they thinking? Platinum proves, once again, that they’re a rollercoaster developer. Still hoping for quality with Scalebound, but between TMNT, Star Fox, and Legend of Korra flanking the fantastic Bayonetta 2, I’m starting to have my doubts.

      2. No Local co op, and the huge $40 price tag is enough for me to avoid this game.

Scalebound looks pretty good, but when you go by platinum games track record I would a little worried.
