Ubisoft Shutting Down Multiple Of Their MMOs

The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot, Might & Magic Duels of Champions, Endwar Online, and Ghost Recon Phantoms are all being shut down this year.

I’ve played all four of these MMOs that are being shut down and one of them came as a bit of surprise to me. I’ll list each MMO down below and give my opinion on why they’re being shut down.

The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot

This game was really fun when it released. I put about 20 hours into it, but bad changes pushed many players, including myself, away from it and now Ubisoft has decided to pull the plug on their dying game. It was fun while lasted, but everything eventually comes to an end.

Might & Magic Duels of Champions

This is another Ubisoft game that’s being shut down. Might & Magic was a really great TCG until Ubisoft, just like with the game above, fucked it up with questionable decisions. To make matters worse two weeks before they decided to pull the plug on this game they had a massive sale on everything. Really guys?

EndWar Online

This game won’t be missed by anyone. It’s not a terrible game, but it’s not exactly a good one either. I didn’t think the first EndWar game was anything special, but making it a browser based strategy game was not what I had in mind when I thought about this game.

Ghost Recon Phantoms

This is the game on the list that surprised me when I learned that it would be shutting down. Ghost Recon Phantoms is the most unique MMO on this list. It’s also one of the most unique FPS/MMOs out there. Ubisoft’s reason for shutting this game down is because they wanted to “focus on other projects”.

I’ll miss Ghost Recon Phantoms the most because I actually had a pretty good time playing it a while back. Hopefully whatever Ubisoft is working on is another MMO of sorts. If you’ve been thinking about getting into any of these games you might want to think again because your enjoyment will be short lived.

If you want to play a trading card game you can always download The Elder Scrolls Legends. It’s pretty good and will keep getting more content throughout it’s open beta phase.

Another MMO that I think might be on life support is Firefall. It’s on life support at the moment with it’s dwindling playerbase and it’s been overhauled a few times since it’s launch back in 2014.

I do have some other MMOs to cover, but I’ll do that in a separate post. This one is all about saying farewell to the four, potentially  five, MMOs that I mentioned above.

  1. Shame that some people will be losing their jobs because of Ubisoft’s questionable decisions. When a company axes so many MMOs it makes you wonder if it is worth spending cash on their future online projects. At least if you play something from Blizzard you know they will support it for years and years.
