Lets Talk About Pokemon Stars

I’ve been addicted to Pokemon Moon since I booted it up on my 3DS. The possibility of a new Pokemon game releasing for a console that’s not the 3DS is huge news.

If this rumor is true, and I really, really want it to be true, then we’ll be getting our very first Pokemon game released on a home console. I’m not talking about Pokemon Stadium, Snap, Coliseum, etc. I mean one of the core Pokemon games that has us catching Pokemon, battling trainers, and trading online. I’m talking about a actual Pokemon game.

Pokemon Stars is supposed to have better graphics, new Pokemon to catch, and will be released the upcoming Nintendo Switch. I’m trying not to get too excited about this, but I can’t help it. I’m excited because I’m a huge Pokemon fan and I’ll be the first to admit that the 3DS is pretty old right now. Pokemon Sun/Moon are beautiful games, but how much more can you do with the 3DS right now?

The fact that this is even being talked about is a good thing. If this rumor is false it’ll break many hearts that were hoping to finally play a Pokemon game, but I do think we’re going to eventually get one of the core Pokemon games on the Switch because it’s portable and seems like Nintendo is trying to bring both of their audiences together on one platform instead of having them split between the two.

I love this approach, but I’m getting off topic here. Pokemon Stars would be the first third entry Pokemon game released since Pokemon Platinum. The third entry in the series usually add some new story elements and refine things that weren’t great in the first two releases. I’m really hoping this is a real thing because it would be great to buy the Switch and have Zelda, Mario, and Pokemon on the same console. That would be a dream come true for me.

What do you think of Pokemon Stars? Do you think it’s real?

  1. Great post! I really hope Pokemon Stars is real! Sun and Moon are great games and I’m loving them, but in the 3DS’ 240p screen resolution no longer has any place in 2016. If we can get a HD version of the game next year on more powerful hardware, I’ll be there on day one!

    1. Pokemon Moon feels like a rushed title in some areas. It doesn’t even have 3D support like previous 3DS Pokemon games. I think we’re getting a Pokemon game on the Switch, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo changed the title of it to something else.

I think Gamefreak released this Pokemon game to please all of the Pokemon fans this year while they were working on another Pokemon game for the Switch.

      1. Yeah, I really think the lack of 3D was because Game Freak seems to have been pushing the 3DS hardware to its potential with Sun and Moon. Even without the 3D, the game’s framerate stutters, so I can only imagine how negatively the game would have been affected. I’m totally on board for an HD Switch Pokemon!
