Top 10 Best Games With No Replay Value

I came up with a fun little list of games that I really enjoyed, but never bothered booting up again after my first playthrough. These are my top 10 games with no replay value.

10. Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Middle Earth is such a good game. The gameplay, graphics, and abilities that I have access to made this one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in the Lord of The Rings universe, but I never played it again after my first playthrough. I’ve attempted to play it again several times, but never got past the beginning of the game because it lacks replay value to me. It was a lot of fun though.

9. Mirror’s Edge

The first Mirror’s Edge game was fantastic. It’s wall running, combat, and graphics were top notch at the time, but I haven’t played it since it released and I don’t think I ever will again.

8. L.A. Noire

L.A. Noire is a classic. The voice acting, story, and conversation system are phenomenal. I loved interrogating suspects and trying to get to the bottom of a murder. Rockstar did a excellent job with this game and I would love to play a sequel some day. We’ll probably get two more Grand Theft Auto games before that happens though…

7. Red Dead Redemption

rdr-1

Red Dead Redemption is one of the best games to release last generation. It’s the best western game I’ve ever played and probably has the best horse riding gameplay too, but I only played it once and didn’t care enough about the game to return for the DLC. I’m really looking forward to Red Dead Redemption 2.

6. Ori and The Blind Forest

Ori and The Blind Forest is probably the most beautiful game on this list. The atmosphere, gameplay, and platforming in this game are among the best I’ve ever played in my life. I really love this game and I recommend it regularly to people that are looking for a platform game to play. I never bothered getting the definitive edition of this game because I feel like I’ve experienced everything that this game has to offer me.

5. Batman Arkham Series

I’ve played every game in the Arkham franchise and I love all of them, but they’re what I like to call a one and done. I can’t play them again and that surprises me because I’m a huge Batman fan. The Batman Arkham games are the best superhero games ever made, but I probably won’t ever play them again.

4. Pokemon Black/White

Pokemon Black/White are my least favorite Pokemon games. Keep in mind that my least favorite Pokemon game is still a 8/10, but the thing that killed this game for me are the horrible starter Pokemon and region that the game takes place in. I hate Tepig, Oshawott, and Snivy. None of those three Pokemon are any good in my opinion. The game itself isn’t as memorable as previous Pokemon games and I never bothered playing through this more then once.

3. Fable III

Fable III is the weakest Fable game in the core series, but it wasn’t a complete failure of a game. It had it’s moments and it was still a Fable game at it’s core. The icing on the cake for me that made me never play it again was the ending of the game. It was the ultimate fuck you ending I think I’ve ever experienced in a game. I enjoyed Fable III, but if I want to experience Fable again I’ll go back to parts 1 or 2.

2. Super Mario 64

Everyone likes to call this the best Mario game ever made. I disagree, but it’s still a really good Mario game to me. I played through this game from beginning to end when I was a kid, but that was it. When I finished it I never bothered booting it back up because I was done and I felt like there was nothing left for me to do in the game. I still that feel that way now and it’s been years since I played this game. I’ll always remember the awesome moments that I had in this game, but my favorite Mario games were always the classic ones on the SNES.

1. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

This is the only Zelda game that I’ve never completed more then once. It’s a great game, but lacks what other Zelda titles had in my opinion. At it’s core it’s a true Zelda game, but I never went back to it. I don’t know why, but I don’t want to play this game again. I would rather go back to Ocarina of Time again or even Majora’s Mask, but this game will probably never see another playthrough from me.

Honorable Mentions

Tomb Raider Franchise

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow

Total War Warhammer

That’s my list of best games with no replay value. What are some games that you loved, but never played more then once?

  1. Red Dead Redemption was more of an older GTA thing like GTA san an for me where it’s more fun to run around on the horse and shoot things than to actually play the story because the story’s kind of lame. Same with Just Cause 2. Still super fun though!

    1. I agree. Rockstar games are usually a one and done with me with the exception of Max Payne.

I never finished Just Cause 2. Tried to play Just Cause 3 and quit 5 hours later. I might go back to the series one day though :).

  2. Definitely understand how you feel about Fable III – the ending killed it for me too. After spending so much time being patient and trying to set up the kingdom for the upcoming battle, the game skips ahead in time and doesn’t let me finish my plans. That REALLY annoyed me!

    1. Man Fable III made me want to throw my Xbox 360 out the window and burn it :(. The ending was clearly rushed and it’s a shame because it’s really all I think about when I think of this game.

  3. To be honest I play most games only once. My backlog is so huge it is hard to justify playing stuff I have already finished.

I suppose Point n Click games don’t have much replay value because once you know how to solve the puzzles that’s pretty much it. That said I enjoyed revisiting Day of the Tentacle when it came to Vita. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis also have multiple ways of clearing sections.

    1. The purpose of this list was to highlight games that I love, but only played once :). I play certain games over, and over again, but none of the ones on this list have seen more then one playthrough from me.

My backlog is huge because instead of me playing different games I go back to Dark Souls or Skyrim and play them for 200 more hours 🙂

  4. I agree with a lot of this, although I’ve played Wind Waker several times because I find it rather relaxing. To be fair though, there are a lot of games with plenty of replay value that over never gone back to, so I’m probably not a good barometer for this topic!
