Lets Talk About Pokemon Revolution Online!

I’ve spent the last few days getting acquainted with Pokemon Revolution Online. It’s a massive Pokemon MMO that spans multiple regions and allows us to play with other people.

Pokemon Revolution Online is something that I’ve always wanted in a Pokemon game. It allows me to play with my wife. I have 11 hours of gameplay, two badges, and about 3 or Pokemon on me that I plan on taking to the Pokemon League with me. When I created my character it started me off in Kanto and I’m loving every second of it. It’s like I’m playing Pokemon Red, but with thousands of other people. The pvp is fantastic because I can just walk up to a random person and challenge them to a battle.

The story, except for a few moments that I’ve discovered so far, is Pokemon Red’s story. The difference is we don’t play as Red, or Ash. We’re our own character and this is made clear at the beginning of the game because we see Red battling Lance in a remote location. Later on we run into Ash and he challenges us to a battle with his Pikachu. I beat him on my first try, but he beat Lunaliah’s team :).

Since this is a MMO it’s much harder than your average Pokemon game. I’m grinding a lot more to level up my team and since I choose Charmander as my starting Pokemon I’ve had a pretty rough time since the first two gyms are rock, and water types. Thankfully I caught a Poliwag that I eventually made evolve into Poliwhirl so I could trade it for a Jynx.

Pokemon Revolution is great. I’m loving it right now and if you’ve ever wanted to play a Pokemon game with your friends I highly recommend downloading it. The animations aren’t as great as the 3DS counterparts, but the experience of playing a Pokemon with other people is fantastic. I plan on playing all the way through so I can see the Johto region again.

What do you think of Pokemon Revolution Online?

  1. An official Pokemon MMO would make a ton of cash. Nintendo won’t make one as they hate money. Just ask anyone who still wants an NES Classic.

Surprised to hear that this game is still going. The big N is usually quick about unleashing the lawyers to protect their copyright.

    1. This game hasn’t been advertised the way some of the other fan made Pokemon games were. I think that’s why it’s still around. I’m really enjoying it. I introduced my wife to Pokemon Red with this game. It’s like I’m playing through that classic game again, but with other people.

      1. It’s been around for a little while already. It’s not a brand new game. I just discovered it a few days ago and I’m addicted to it with my wife at the moment. I think as long as it’s not advertised the way some of the other Pokemon games were by big news outlets it’ll survive.
