Hit or Miss – May

This year is flying by isn’t it? It’s time for my monthly hit or miss series for May.

Prey (PC/Xbox One/PS4)

I want to get into the hype on this game, but Arkane Studios last game (Dishonored 2) played like crap on PC and since the demo is only on consoles I’m not buying this game until some user feedback is reported.

Verdict – Wait For User Feedback

Injustice 2 (Xbox One/PS4/IOS/Android)

This is a miss for me. You took the time to make phone ports, but not a PC port? Fuck you then :).

Verdict – Miss

The Surge (PC/Xbox One/PS4)

The Surge is like a steampunk Dark Souls game, but I’m not sold on it yet. It’s made by the developers of Lords of The Fallen. That game did almost nothing to separate itself from a Dark Souls clone. What little I’ve seen of The Surge is interesting, but not enough to buy on day one.

Verdict – Miss

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia (3DS)

The next Fire Emblem game is a remake of Fire Emblem Gaiden. More Fire Emblem in my life is always a good thing. I’ve already pre-ordered my copy of the game along with the Amiibos.

Verdict – Hit

Disgaea 5 (Switch)

I’m a fan of the Disgaea series. This is just one more reason for me to buy a Nintendo Switch.

Verdict – Hit

Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada (PS4/PC)

Nothing has changed between the last Samurai Warriors game and this one. The graphics, gameplay, and even map layout is the exact same as the last game in the series. I still want this game though. Why? Because I need my Samurai Warriors fix that’s why. I’m not buying a Koei game for PC on day one, but when it drops to about $20 I’ll have no problems adding this game to my collection on Steam.

Verdict – Wait for Sale

Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 (PC/PS4/Xbox One/PS3)

I need a new fighting game to play. Street Fighter V isn’t getting any better any time soon, and I refuse to buy Killer Instinct twice so this game will have to do. I’ve only played one Guilty Gear game in my life, but if this game is priced right (last game is $50) I’ll buy it. Don’t see myself dropping $50 on it.

Verdict – Undecided

Rime (PC/PS4/Xbox One)

Rime… doesn’t interest me at all.

Verdict – Miss

May is getting some pretty good looking games. It doesn’t compare to March’s game list, but I doubt anything that releases this year will compare to the games that released in March. What do you think of May’s games lineup?

    1. I usually really like the Disgaea games. I’m looking forward to finally being able to play part 5. Hopefully this Fire Emblem Gaiden remake is better than Fates.

  1. I’m going somewhat opposite from you. Very keen on The Surge (I actually didn’t mind LOTF) and Injustice 2 (really enjoyed the last one). Having said that, I’m saving money to finally get a new PC too…

    1. I didn’t mind Lords of The Fallen. It just can’t compete with any Dark Souls game. It was okay, but I’m glad I waited two years to buy it. I don’t trust this developer and I want to see more of The Surge before I spend my money on it. Paying full price for it is a no for me because I’m buying Fire Emblem next month, and I want Disgaea 5, and I’m waiting to see how much Guilty Gear cost on Steam since it’s not even listed on there yet :(.
