Lets Talk About Destiny 2!

Destiny 2 was shown off today and… it looks like Destiny 1. If you loved the first you’ll probably love this one, but what about everyone else?

I wasn’t part of the Destiny hype. The first game was okay I guess, but it never pulled me into it’s world. The “story” was shit, but the gameplay was really smooth and I enjoyed playing with my friends for about a month before I moved on to the next game.

I wanted to see this gameplay reveal because Destiny 2 is coming to PC. I wanted to see if there was any improvements and what I saw was more of the same. I’m not interested in Destiny 2 at all after what I watched. It’s not for me and I would rather buy Shadow of War instead since they’re releasing pretty close to each other.

Destiny 2 doesn’t bring much to the table. We’re getting the exact same three classes that were in the last game, but they have access to one new class a piece. Destiny 2 will launch with new pvp modes (meh…), strikes, and ONE new raid. You’re only getting a single raid to hold you over until Bungie decides to drop new content that’s probably locked on the disc to begin with. Destiny 2… is more like Destiny 1.5 instead of a full sequel. It doesn’t look better graphically, has the exact same starting classes, gameplay, and shit that was in the first game. There is no improvement and I want nothing to do with it. Most people that buy this game will probably play through it in about 30 hours. There’s not much here to do unless Bungie adds more content before launch, but how much content is Destiny 2 going to get.

That’s not even the biggest issue with Destiny 2. The biggest issue (for me) is that it’s not launching on Steam. I only use Battle.net for Diablo III… and it looks like it’s going to stay that way because Destiny 2 is literally more of the same shit that I quit playing in the first game.

What did you think of the Destiny 2 reveal? Are you buying it?

Destiny 2 will release on September 8, 2017.

  1. I just read the coverage of people who went hands on, they said the same, it feels more like a reset than a true sequel so far. But it’s still early maybe there will be other cool stuff revealed later.

I never played the first one, but am excited this is coming to PC. But I am very bummed out it’s going to battle.net. Nothing against blizzard, but i may sometimes want to use controllers for single player stuff, and now that option is out the window. Never had luck running controllers consistently in battle.net, even the steam controller.

    1. It’s get worse for the PC port. It won’t have dedicated servers…

I’m not excited in the slightest. I played the first Destiny and it was average at best in my opinion. This game looks like Destiny 1.5 instead of a sequel. If you do get it I hope you enjoy it :). Let me know how it plays too.

  2. Destiny was a big disappointment for me – from a company that had me captivated for years with what they did with Halo, I really couldn’t understand how they could make such a mess of the narrative side. Hearing from you that it hasn’t changed much since then doesn’t interest me in trying again.

Interesting about battle.net though… Might be Activision’s first shot at setting up a gaming service for all their big products.

    1. Destiny was a big disappointment for a lot of people. I remember the huge advertisement campaign for the game and all the promises that was made to us… It was a huge disappointment for me. The big gameplay reveal was… the same ole Destiny. It’s Destiny 1.5 not a true sequel in my opinion.

Blizzard can’t make up their minds about Battle.net. Is it Battle.net or Blizzard app?

  3. To be honest, I wanted to see an slight evolution on what we already have and I think that’s what we’ve got. If some people don’t like that then that’s fine, each to their own, but right now I feel pretty happy with what we’ve seen.
Destiny has always been hit or miss for people and I don’t think that’s going to change going in to Destiny 2.
I’m ok with it launching on Battlenet, I’m just happy it’s not on the windows store. If it was on steam, then I’d be fine with that too, it makes no difference to me.

    1. If you wanted more of the same you definitely got it with Destiny 1.5 because what I saw isn’t a sequel. They didn’t even bother to add a new character. It’s literally the first Destiny with better social aspects to it. If any other game pulled this it would get crucified. To each their own though. I hope you enjoy it 🙂
