Lets Talk About My Nintendo Switch and My First Two Games!

I finally got one! I finally got my hands on a Nintendo Switch. The journey to get one was not a easy one, but I found the very last Switch in the very last store in my city.

I brought two games to go along with the Switch for now. I got Puyo Puyo Tetris, and Kamiko. Both games cost $35 on the eshop and I still have $5 left :). The Switch is very comfortable in my big hands. It’s much more comfortable to hold than my 3DS is right now, but I haven’t done any serious gaming sessions on it yet so that could always change.

The Joycons are actually quite good in my opinion. At first I thought my hands would tower over the controller, but they don’t. It’s still a small controller (for me), but it’s a comfortable one and I’ve been able to play comfortably in both games on both TV, and handheld mode.

I’m not liking either game that I purchased for my brand new console. That’s a big letdown because those two games killed my excitement for owning a Switch. I wanted to buy Has-Been Heroes, but I listened to my wife and brought Puyo Puyo Tetris instead for $30 and that only left $10 left on my account. I won’t be able to buy a new game until tomorrow. This game would be fun if it wasn’t so hard to learn. The npcs in this game don’t take it easy on you at all. I’ve only one one or two matches in the hour that I played. The story mode is interesting, but I’m not willing to try and clear multiple lines of Tetris blocks in 2 minutes because I don’t like feeling rushed.

Kamiko… is better than Puyo Puyo Tetris, but not by much. I’m not enjoying this game at all. I was really looking forward to playing it because it looked really cool. I watched some gameplay and loved the soundtrack. I thought I would love this game, but I don’t. I don’t feel like jumping back into either of these games. The gameplay in Kamiko is crap. I know that it’s a throwback to games of yesteryear, but it just feels cheap. Well… it is only $5 so I guess I got what I paid for.

I’m really happy that I finally got a Nintendo Switch, but I really need to buy a game that I like it for it. I wish I could do something on it right now, but there’s no Netflix, or Hulu to keep me occupied until I do get some better games. At least my wife is having fun with Tetris…

What do you think of your Nintendo Switch? Have you played the games I mentioned above? What do you think of them?

    1. Puyo, Puyo… is incredibly hard. There’s no difficulty from what I can tell and the A.I. is so much better than me. I’m not a huge Tetris fan to begin with so not being able to win simple one on one battles really aggravated me. My wife loves it though…

She’ll tell you to rush out and buy it.

  1. I love my Switch so far, but the only two games I’ve really gotten into are (were) Zelda and Mario Kart. Both are great experiences and make me love the Switch by themselves.

However, Kamiko I am mixed on (kind of meant for speedrunning and not so much exploring? Plus I’m stuck on stage 3 and have no idea where to go). Fast RMX was great for a while, but was made obsolete by MK8, plus the rubber banding is infuriating. So far I think Human Resource Machine was by far the most creative and entertaining eShop special. And I bought 1-2-Switch on release day and immediately turned around and sold it. Holding off for more games – it’ll get better come Fall.

Currently waiting on Cave Story+ at the end of the month. After that it’s gonna be a little while before I pick up anything else. So far Snipperclips has been the only indie I have loved.

    1. I’m hoping for a strong E3. The Switch really needs some huge announcements.

Also, here’s my friend code for when you pick up something you like! SW-5543-1226-2329

    2. The thing with me is I already own both Zelda, and Mario Kart on the Wii U and I’m in no rush to revisit either of them. I’m getting Disgaea 5 from Gamestop when I go instead. It’s something new and I’m a big fan of the series :).

I’m also interested in Street Fighter (not for $40 though), Binding of Isaac (Again, not for $40), and I’m waiting for Monster Hunter, Fire Emblem Warriors, Super Mario, Super Smash, and a bunch of other titles that I want like Dragon Quest.

  2. I am completely in love with my Nintendo Switch. Seriously. I am. I hope Nintendo announces some big titles at E3 because I’m itching to play some more games on it. I love it that much. It feels perfect in my hands, I love the screen, and I love the portability of it. Breath of the Wild is an amazing game, and I’ve been playing this along with Monster Boy. I could talk about this console for ages. I’m delighted you picked one up, man. It’s amazing! (Okay, now I need to stop gushing. Ha ha!) 😛

    1. Monster Boy looks really interesting. I’ll end up buying it eventually. I just brought Disgaea 5 and I’m enjoying it. Might be awhile before I jump into anything else.

  3. Congrats on getting the last one in your city! I know these things are hard to find now! Shame you don’t like Puyo Puyo Tetris. I love it a lot, but I’m also more used to both games. I agree that the CPU is very hard in story mode early on though, so I understand where you’re coming from. If you ever want though, I’d be willing to play it with you. Or any game in the future. I’ll leave my Switch Friend Code for you if you want to friend me for any multiplayer games coming up! 🙂
