Black Desert is on sale for the first time since it’s release. The big question is whether or not it’s worth buying right now.
I played Black Desert briefly when it first released and I was immediately disappointed with it. It was a grind heavy, AFK simulator that rewarded the players for doing absolutely nothing. Nothing has changed since then. I could argue that things have actually gotten worse over the last few months.
It’s been quite awhile since I’ve wrote anything BDO related so I did some catching up. Black Desert isn’t just a grind heavy, AFK simulator. It’s also pay to win and that’s not something a MMO should ever change to. Since it takes so long to get anything done in this game people have resorted to paying for items that offer special bonuses. If that’s not bad enough you can’t just find multiple different costumes to wear while you play. You have to buy them with real cash or you’ll just stay in the same armor set or two the entire game.
The standard edition of Black Desert Online is on sale for $10. The Traveler’s Package is $19.99 and the Explorer’s Package is $34.99. Is Black Desert worth $10. Do you like grinding for hundreds of hours and AFK fishing? Then yes it’s worth $10. If you don’t like that shit it’s obviously a big no and that’s the answer I’m leaning towards.
I’ll rather put another hundred hours into Guild Wars 2 or Warframe before I touch Black Desert again. I don’t like the fact that I won’t ever be as good as someone that has put money in the game. In games like Guild Wars 2 and Warframe that isn’t the case. Everything can be gotten without spending a single dollar in the game except accessories.
I had really high hopes for Black Desert when it was announced. Unfortunately it’s run by some greedy people that’s excuse for their insane cash shop is, “it helps us keep adding more content to our game.” Guild Wars 2 was a B2P game for years and they never once had a pay to win cash shop. So what’s your excuse BDO?
