Eve Online Is Getting A Free To Play Option With Limitations

Spread the Word!

I’ve been really curious about Eve Online and now might be the perfect time for me to check it out.

I’m not sure when it’ll happen, but Eve Online will have a free to play option with some pretty steep limitations. I’ve always been really curious about this game, but I refused to commit to a monthly fee in order to test it out. This will be a great way for me to try the game and if I fall in love with it I’ll have no problem becoming a subscriber like I did in SWTOR.

If you want the full details on what you’ll be able to do as a free to play player click here. It’s a really long post that covers everything there is to know about playing Eve Online for free.

I’ll cover the basics here for everyone else.

As a free to play player we’ll also have access to specific skills, and skill levels. For more advanced skills we’ll most likely have to subscribe.

As a free to play player we’ll have access to tech 1 frigates, destroyers, and cruisers. I’m no Eve veteran so I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that there’s better tiers than 1 :].

There’s a lot more to cover, but I think you guys got a small grasp of what the restrictions in game will be like for free players.

It seems like free to play newcomers to Eve will have a pretty restricted experience when compared to subscribers, but that’s completely understandable. If I was paying to play a game I wouldn’t want someone having access to everything I do for free.

What do you think of Eve? Will you try it out when it goes free to play?

I tried Eve many moons ago and it wasn’t for me. Good to see that there is a free option for people to decide for themselves if the game is something worth investing in.

I’m definitely going to try it out when the free to play option drops. I’ve been curious about it for years now.
