Final Fantasy Explorers is Square Enix’s attempt at making Monster Hunter. It’s not great, but it’s also not bad so far….
I finally caved and brought Final Fantasy Explorers because it’s not like your typical Final Fantasy game and because it has so much in common with Fantasy Life, and Monster Hunter.
My first two hours of the game has been spent completing a few tutorial missions and exploring the little town that I started the game off in. The beginning of this game was really weird. I’m dropped into a boss fight with a Bahamut and some weird lady tells me to retreat.
From there I met Cid and he gave me a bunch of unimportant tutorial quest that had me running around and killing random shit. The gameplay, with my current class, is pretty bad. So far this game can’t hold a candle to either Monster Hunter or Fantasy Life with it’s gameplay.
Graphically this game looks alright, but it’s nothing that stands out when compared to any of the two games that I previously mentioned. I am having fun with it at the moment and I just unlocked some new classes to try out so I’m hoping that my opinion on the gameplay will change over time since there are so many classes to try out in this game.
That’s all I really have to write about this game right now. The soundtrack is your typical Final Fantasy and so far every character that I’ve met is pretty average. I’ve barely scratched the surface of what this game has to offer and I’m excited to see what lies ahead for me.
I’ll have more details when I complete the game and write my review, but my first impression of this game has been underwhelming to be honest.
