I don’t usually cover gaming news because there are so many other people doing it, but some news that I read/got emailed about today really excited me and I decided to discuss it with everyone today.
Let’s start with Soul Calibur VI! One of my most anticipated games of the year is Soul Calibur VI and the wait for it just became harder because CD Projekt Red and Bandai Namco have announced that Geralt of Rivia will be the guest character in this Soul Calibur game! I’ve always wanted to play as Geralt (or a Witcher in general) in a fighting game so, in a way, this is a dream come true for me. The announcement said that Geralt will have access to all of his abilities and just thinking about how awesome he’ll be is blowing my mind right now. Geralt is a very versatile fighter so that means he’ll be casting spells, using various potions, and maybe even throwing some grenades at the other fighters in Soul Calibur VI! I can’t wait to try him out!
Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor has a release date and it’s releasing for the PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on the same day! I’m not a Warhammer fan. Vermintide 2 is slowly changing that for me though. This will be the first ARPG Warhammer game and it looks really good too. This game looks like the perfect introduction to the 40k universe of Warhammer for me. It even comes with a nice trailer.
Diablo III has been in the news lately because of something they did on social media. It’s either a really good prank or Blizzard sees money to be made on Nintendo’s latest console hybrid. The Switch has been selling like hotcakes and do you know what’s missing from the already large number of games available on it? A great ARPG. Diablo III would sell a ton on the Switch. Could you imagine being able to play something like Diablo III on the go? The Switch can easily run the game if the Xbox 360 and PS3 can. Being able to take an ARPG with me when I leave home would be huge. If this turns out to be false someone else should step up and put their game on the Switch because there’s a market for it there.
I have some Super Smash Bros news for all of you today. Funimation tweeted at Nintendo of America and asked when Goku will make an appearance in Super Smash Bros. I’m all for that shit… as long as Nintendo doesn’t have to cut any current characters to make it happen. Funimation isn’t just some random fan asking for Goku to be in a Super Smash Bros. game. That’s a huge tweet and maybe it’s a sign of things to come…
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is off to an incredible start on PC. In less then a few weeks, it’s already sold over 500,000 copies and averages over 40,000 people playing it. It’s a huge success for Fat Shark and it’s well deserved. This is a sequel done right and I’m curious to see how console sells will compare to PC. I already have a group of friends that love playing this game with me on PC and it’s really fun. I highly recommend it if you’re into the Left4Dead horde mode type games.
Grim Dawn is getting a second expansion! This news flew under the radar and not many people covered it. Grim Dawn is going to the desert with Forgotten Gods. Not much is known about this new expansion yet, but any Grim Dawn news is good Grim Dawn news to me. This is an excellent game coming off of a really good expansion and I’m excited to see where Crate Entertainment does next. There is no release date for this expansion yet.
And that wraps up this weekly newsletter. I’m not going to oversaturate my blog with gaming news so I decided to make every Friday game news day along with whatever else might pop up on here from time to time. Yes, I know that today is Thursday. Starting next week this article will be exclusive to Fridays :).
