Hit Or Miss Nintendo Switch PC Playstation 4 Upcoming Games Xbox One 2

Hit or Miss – February 2018

Spread the Word!

It’s time for my monthly hit or miss series.  Read on to find out what I think is a hit or miss!

Dynasty Warriors 9 (PC/PS4/Xbox One)

Dynasty Warriors 9 is one of my most anticipated games of 2018. It was pretty high up on my top 20 most anticipated games of 2018 and it’s a day one buy for me. I don’t like that Koei changed Zhang He’s fighting style, but everything that I’ve seen in this game is fantastic. This looks like it could be one of, if not the, best Dynasty Warriors game ever made.

Verdict – Hit!

Kingdom Come Deliverance (PC/Xbox One/PS4)

Here’s another really interesting title. Unfortunately, it’s releasing on the same exact day as Dynasty Warriors 9 and I can only buy one of them. I’ll definitely check this game out later in the year though after it’s gone down in price a little. $60 for a new IP is a lot to ask.

Verdict – Wait For Sale

Dragon Quest Builders (Switch)

This game is already on the PS4. I played the demo on the Switch for a few hours and I surprisingly enjoyed it. It’s like Minecraft with RPG elements. The only problem is that I don’t see myself buying this game right now. If it wasn’t releasing somewhat close to Dynasty Warriors 9 I would probably consider it, but it’s also behind Kingdom Come Deliverance for me too. I’m in no rush to buy a new game for my Switch right now anyway. There’s nothing that’s a must-have for it right now.

Verdict – Miss!

Shadow of The Colossus (PS4)

Lots of Sony fanboys are looking forward to this game. The original is praised as a masterpiece and to me, it’s… one of the most boring games I’ve ever played in my life. I don’t care if that’s an unpopular opinion. Shadow of The Colossus doesn’t interest me in the slightest and it’s not worth buying a PS4 for. This remake looks horrible to me, but if this is your thing go for it. It’s a big miss for me though.

Verdict – Miss

Bayonetta 1 & 2 (Switch)

The first two Bayonetta games are being re-released (again) on the Switch and I’m not buying them. I played them on the Wii U (a lot) and I already know what games I want to add to my library this month. I’ll most likely end up buying them at some point though.

Verdict – Miss!

Metal Gear Survive (Xbox One, PS4, PC)

I could care less about the Metal Gear series. I don’t have a deep attachment to the series and this game looks like your average multiplayer survival game. It’s too early to tell how meaty the game will be on release, but I’m not completely dismissing this one since I do enjoy playing multiplayer games a lot nowadays. I’ll probably end up buying this game during the Steam summer sale for $20.

Verdict – Wait For Sale!

Steamworld Dig (Switch)

The Switch is getting a lot of shitty ports lately. This one of them. I did not enjoy the first Steamworld Dig and that’s part of the reason why I never purchased the second game. This is a miss for sure. There are much better games for me to throw cash at than this one this month.

Verdict – Miss!

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age (PC)

This game released on PC a few days ago and… I’m not buying it right now. Why? Because Square Enix is asking for $40 for it. Why is it more expensive than every other Final Fantasy game on Steam? I am looking forward to adding this game to my library soon. I’ll most likely end up buying it in March along with Final Fantasy XV. If not it’ll be a summer sale game along with Metal Gear Survive :).

Verdict – Wait For Sale!

Civilization VI: Rise and Fall (PC)

The first major expansion for Civilization VI is almost here. It’s bringing a ton of new content and changes to Civilization VI and I can’t wait to jump back into this game play it again. I really enjoyed Civilization VI and it’s gotten really good since it’s release. Only time will tell if it’ll ever reach the greatness of part V. I’m buying this expansion as soon as it’s available.

Verdict – Hit!

Payday 2 (Switch)

Here’s another crappy Switch port. Payday is a game about robbing banks and killing cops. I never bought the game on PC and I don’t plan on buying it now on the Switch. Who in their right mind would play an FPS game with a Joy Con anyway? I’ll stick to my mouse and keyboard.

Verdict – Miss!

EA Sports UFC 3 (PS4/Xbox One)

I’m not into UFC. It’s my least favorite sport. That should tell you all you need to know about whether or not I’ll be buying this game.

Verdict – Miss!

Secret of Mana (PC/PS4/Xbox One)

This remake (surprisingly) doesn’t interest me at all. I don’t like the way game looks and honestly Secret of Mana isn’t one of my favorite games and I can go without playing it again.

Verdict – Miss

And that wraps up this edition of Hit or Miss. What games are looking forward to playing this month?

I’ll be playing Dragon Age Inquisition forever at this rate, so I don’t need any new games for a while 🙂

That game will keep you busy for a long time :). Only game I really want is Dynasty Warriors 9 because I’m a huge fan of the series, but I’ve mostly been playing Final Fantasy XIV and Star Wars the Old Republic with my wife.
