Hit Or Miss Upcoming Games 5

Hit or Miss – February 2017

Spread the Word!

There weren’t many games that on my radar that releases in January. This month is different so I decided to make my first hit or miss of 2017.

Torment: Tides of Numenera (PC)

I’ve grown a bit tired of cRPGs over the last year or so. I’ve played so many that I’m a bit exhausted by the genre at the moment and that’s enough for me to avoid this game. There’s only so much you can in this genre to keep it fresh and I don’t see the genre moving forward at all this year. That doesn’t mean I won’t pick up when it’s around $10 though.

Verdict – Wait For Deep Sale

Poochy and Yoshi’s Woolly World (3DS)

I love Yoshi’s Woolly World, but I have no interest in this game on the 3DS. I don’t think the addition of Poochy (most annoying thing about Woolly World in my opinion) is enough to warrant a $50 price tag. The best version of this game is on the Wii U.

Verdict – Miss

For Honor (PC)

I was really impressed with the closed of For Honor. I was addicted to it for days and if there’s one game I’ll rush out to buy this month it’ll be this one. The gameplay, graphics, and 1v1 dueling makes this  a must own game in my opinion. I need some more For Honor in my life right now.

Verdict – Hit

Sniper Elite 4

Sniper Elite 4 is the fourth (duh) title in the Sniper Elite series. I love Sniper Elite, but I’m not really interested in this one. For the first time a Sniper Elite game is going to be open world, but I question that because I thought the series was fine the way it was before. Don’t even get me started on the graphics of this game. It looks like a Xbox 360/PS3 game. I know I’m going to eventually buy it like I did every other game in the series, but for now it’s a wait for a sale.

Verdict – Wait For Sale

Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book

That’s quite the title for a game isn’t it? I’ve never played a single game in this series, but I want to play this one. It’s only $30 on Steam, but I do have concerns about the PC port .JRPGs are notorious for having bad PC ports and I don’t think this game will be any different. That… and Koei are the ones that ported it over and none of their PC games are ever ported right to the PC. The game looks really good though.

Verdict – Undecided

I may well get Torment, for the opposite reason to you (I’ve not played a cRPG in ages) but the rest I’m not really fussed about. Nioh is the one I picked up!

I’m sure I would enjoy Torment just like I did Pillars of Eternity, and Tyranny. I’m just a little burned out on the genre right now :).

I wasn’t sure about For Honor until I tried it and man it’s good. I love it and technically it’ll be the first new game I get for this year.

I plan on making another list with Nioh, Horizon Zero Dawn, and a few other titles. I usually do 2 or three of my hit or miss series every month :).

That’s the thing with that style of game, each one tends to be enormous and leaves you pretty done with the genre for a while. I’m playing a single player PC board game (is that a genre?!) right now as a palette cleanser of sorts between big games.

I like the Atelier series, but never finished Sophie. For some reason they removed some gameplay improvements that had been added in the recent games.

I’ve never heard the series before so I’ll take your word for it :). I’ll most likely end up buying it since it’s so cheap on Steam.
