Hit or Miss – October

Spread the Word!

Here’s my really late edition of Hit or Miss!

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep

Destiny 2 went free to play on the same day that its latest expansion dropped. I tried my best to get into this game, but I’m not a fan of some of the changes that were made to the game. I felt like I was using someone else’s character instead of my original Titan because I was pushed to the max level. To make a long story short, I did not enjoy Destiny 2 at all and I have no interest in buying its shitty expansion. If you want to catch up on what I thought of Destiny 2 in more detail click here.

Verdict – Miss!

Ghost Recon: Breakpoint

Breakpoint released to a mixed reception. The main focus of most reviewers, streamers, and YouTubers was the microtransactions. It’s a non-issue just like they were in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The game itself is good, but I don’t plan on renewing my Uplay+ to keep playing it. The subscription service is too expensive and doesn’t offer enough games to justify the price tag.

Verdict – Wait For Sale!

Atlas

Atlas is just a reskinned version of Ark, but with ships and shit. If you liked Ark you might like this. As for me, I’ll pass. This game is super buggy and is made by some of the worst game developers in the business. The video above is of The Lazy Peon. I figured you could at least watch an entertaining Youtuber play the game to get a good feel of whether or not it’s worth your time.

Verdict – Miss!

Indivisible

I was super interested in this game for months when it first announced. Now that it’s here… I could care less. I mean… I might still check it out one day, but it would be when it’s like $10 on a deep Steam sale.

The Verdict – Wait For Sale!

Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair

I’m… sort of interested in this game. I didn’t care much for the first one though. I might grab this and I might not. We’ll see.

The Verdict – Undecided!

Val Faris

Valfaris is like a throwback to those old Contra games except it’s no near as good as those. It’s kind of mediocre, actually and you can probably find much better games for the price of this one.

Verdict – Miss!

Doraemon: Story of Seasons

If you like Stardew Valley you’ll most likely really like this game. It’s charming, cute, and looks like I would really enjoy it. But… it’s $50 and Stardew Valley is $14.99. If you’re looking to get into a farming simulator game there are much cheaper options out there.

Verdict – Wait For Sale!

Frostpunk

If you don’t have a PC and this is the ONLY way you can play this game then I recommend buying it. Frostpunk was one of the best games I played last year and I really enjoyed it. Will I be buying it on console? No. I already own it on PC.

Verdict – Miss!

Grid

Grid looks like your average racing game and I have no interest in buying it. I used to love games like this. I don’t anymore. I’ll stick to Mario Kart and Sonic Racing for my racing games fix.

Verdict – Miss!

Killer Queen Black

This game looks terrible. I won’t be adding this to my game library.

Verdict – Miss!

Children of Morta

I had fun when I played the demo to this game on Steam. I had a lot of fun. I never got around to buying the full game and it’s not that expensive. It is oddly priced though at $21.99.

Verdict – Hit!

Overwatch

Overwatch is on the Switch… and I have no interest in buying it. And Hong Kong has absolutely nothing to do with my decision to not buy the game on Switch. If I ever decide to dip my toes in Overwatch it’ll be on PC.

Verdict – Miss!

The Witcher 3

It’s The Witcher 3. It’s one of the best games ever made and is on my top 10 games of all time. Of course, I’m buying it on the Switch.

Verdict – Hit!

Little Town Hero

I was really interested in Little Town Hero. It’s not everyday Game Freak decides to make a game not called Pokemon. I still am interested, but after what I’ve seen of the combat and game itself I’ve gone from “this is a must buy” to “I’ll rather wait for it to drop in price” even though it’s not that expensive.

Verdict – Wait For Sale!

Plants vs Zombies: Battle For Neighborville

I’m still convinced that the best Plants vs Zombies game was the very first one that launched before EA bought the company. The newer ones aren’t bad at all. I just miss the strategic gameplay of the original game. Battle for Neighborville does not look bad though and I might resub to Origin Premier to try it out one day.

Verdict – Miss!

Ring Fit Adventure

Leave it to Nintendo to create something this unique. This game looks interesting, but I have no plans on owning it.

Verdict – Miss!

Moons of Madness

As a fan of The Secret World MMO I am incredibly excited about this game since it ties into that game. But… I’ve never been a fan of do nothing simulators and that’s exactly what this is. This is a game I would watch on Youtube and never buy for myself.

Verdict – Miss!

Trails of Cold Steel III

Trails of Cold Steel III is amazing. I love it and the fact that I got access to it a full month before it released was an incredible moment for me. I’ve had a chance to play this game and enjoy this game before it even hit store shelves. You should totally buy this game.

Verdict – Hit!

WWE 2K20

I miss the days of playing great wrestling games. Those are long gone and have been replaced with shitty 2K games. There’s no more Here Comes the Pain or Smackdown vs Raw. Or Raw 2. Those games are gone. What we have now is laughably bad and is the most broken game I’ve seen released this year so far.

Verdict – Miss!

Call of Duty Modern Warfare

Another year another Call of Duty game. I haven’t bought one of these games since Advanced Warfare and I don’t plan on buying this one. I don’t care how well received it is.

Verdict – Miss!

MediEvil

This game won’t convince me to stop playing Trails of Cold Steel III. It looks horrible.

Verdict – Miss!

The Outer Worlds

The Outer Worlds is like mixing Firefly and Fallout New Vegas together. It’s great and I love it. I haven’t been able to play it the way I want because being a grown-up sucks, but I do think it’s worth every cent.

Verdict – Hit!

Luigi’s Mansion 3

I didn’t like the first Luigi’s Mansion, skipped the second one, and have no plans to buy the third one. This game will undoubtedly release to critical acclaim and people will love it.

Verdict – Miss!

Disco Elysium

Disco Elysium is probably the deepest and most unique RPG to be released this year. It looks insane and weird and I’m very interested in it. I’ve researched it a lot and I know it’s a game I would love because I love games in this genre. Tyranny, Planescape Torment, etc. This is right up my alley and it looks incredible.

Verdict – Hit!

And that wraps up this month’s edition of Hit or Miss! What games are you looking forward to this month?
