Hit or Miss – September Part 1

Spread the Word!

The boring part of gaming is over. The summer is just about over and this month is stacked with games that I want and don’t want. My hit or miss series is back!

Divinity: Original Sin 2 (PC)

The first game was a flawed gem. It wasn’t as great as everyone made it out it out to be, but the gameplay was phenomenal and I loved playing it and the enhanced edition with my wife. I’m really looking forward to the sequel and I hope it lives up to my expectations.

Verdict – Hit!

Knack II (PS4)

Who asked for this game? Well… It’s here if you care about it :). I wasn’t interested in the first Knack and I don’t care one bit for this one. If I went out and got myself a PS4 Pro this wouldn’t be the game I would come home with.

Verdict – Miss!

Destiny 2 (Xbox One, PS4, PC)

Destiny 1.5 is here! I’m sure many people will flock to it and buy it. It’s going to sell millions, but I’m not sure if I’m going to be one of them. I know I just talked a bunch of shit on Twitter about this game with Chuck, but I was mostly trolling him because he gets pretty passionate about certain topics :). It was all good fun. Destiny 1.5 isn’t a $60 game to me. The only way I can ever see myself playing this game is if I know a group of people (on PC) that plays. And I have no idea how the PC port will perform without dedicated servers. This is a wait for a sale for sure.

Verdict – Wait For Sale!

Monster Hunter Stories (3DS)

Monster Hunter Stories is completely different from the core Monster Hunter games. It plays more like your traditional JRPG. Instead of hunting monsters and crafting cool shit we’re stealing monster eggs and raising them to fight alongside us in battle. It looks really cool and I really want it, but I’m broke as hell and probably won’t own until next year because of everything that’s happened lately.

Verdict – Miss!

Pokemon Gold/Silver (3DS)

Instead of Nintendo giving us a Virtual Console on the Switch and adding this game on it we’re getting on the 3DS even though I can easily go out and buy the superior remakes of these games from Gamestop. I’ll pass…

Verdict – Miss!

Fifa 18 (PS4, Xbox One, PC, Switch)

It’s nice to see a big third party game drop on the Switch. I’m not a huge Fifa fan, but I do like playing through the story and building up a shit team in season mode. I know the story isn’t on the Switch version (thanks EA), but there’s enough there for me to support it because I want more EA games on the Switch.

Verdict – Hit!

NBA 2K18 (PS4, Xbox One, PC, Switch)

Another huge third party game is dropping on the Switch and there’s nothing missing from it! The career mode in 2K is always leagues above every other sports game and I expect it to deliver again here. I was going to get this on PC, but I want to support it on the Switch so I’m buying it there instead. I don’t care if 30fps. If you want more third party support on the Switch buy the third party games when they drop.

Verdict – Hit!

Rayman Legends Definitive Edition (Switch)

I really loved Rayman Legends when I played it a few years ago on the Xbox One. I no longer own an Xbox and I miss playing this game with my family. If I wasn’t broke I would buy this the day it dropped. It’s been pushed back to next year most likely, but I’ll happily drop $40 on this gem.

Verdict – Hit!

And this wraps up part 1 to Semptember’s edition of my hit or miss series. What games are you looking forward to this month?
