Homefront Review

Spread the Word!

I know i’ve been slacking up when it comes to movie related content for last few weeks but i’m back to watching movies again and I have a few reviews planned for the rest of this month starting with Homefront.

Jason Statham: Phil Broker

James Franco: Gator

Winona Ryder: Sheryl Mott

Kate Bosworth: Cassie Bodine

Rachelle Lefevre: Susan Hatch

Omar Benson: Miller

Homefront stars Jason Statham as Phil Broker, a undercover cop that was involved in a drug raid on a biker gang that ultimately led to the biker gang’s leader son being shot to death by the police. Before I go any further let me say that nothing in this movie is really original. We’ve seen it all before but that doesn’t mean there isn’t some pretty decent action scenes to be found here. Homefront is a slow movie. I walked in expecting more action then what I got. The acting by everyone for the most part is alright. There are no note worthy performances that will make you want to shout Oscar worthy at your tv.

images (2)Jason Statham as was awesome as usual and had some pretty cool fight scenes but you could argue that there was no one in the movie that could have taken him on anyway. None of the fights lasted very long and while it was cool to see him kicking some ass it was ultimately forgettable. The main problem with this movie is that there was no wow moment. A good example would be The Expendables  when we saw Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris, and Sylvester Stallone all kicking some ass. That was a wow moment and that’s likely never to happen again. This movie didn’t have a single standout moment. It was just jumping from one scene to another without anything interesting really happening and when something did happen it was over too soon.

I liked the father, daughter bonding moments in the movie but once again they were over too soon. Ultimately Homefront is your Grade B action movie that you won’t remember in a week and probably won’t ever watch again.

The Verdict: 6/10

This isn’t a horrible movie. It was a decent movie but that’s all I can really say about it. I would say it’s worth a watch if it comes on cable but I wouldn’t recommend paying for it on dvd or even searching for it on Netflix.

Good review. It’s an alright movie, but a little too serious for its own good. Especially given the fact of how much fun “James Franco playing a meth-dealer named Gator” sounds.
