I Don't Think I'll Ever Go Back To Console Gaming Outside of Nintendo

Spread the Word!

I used to be a hardcore console gamer. I was a console gamer for a little over 20 years before I was introduced to PC gaming.

I have very fond memories of playing on consoles as a kid. I played some of the best games ever made and I got to spend time with my family at the same time. It was great and I don’t regret it one bit.

When The Xbox One, and Playstation 4 released I was excited. I thought I would be getting a awesome experience like I did on the Xbox 360, but I was wrong. I’ve had good experiences on the Xbox One, but not one of those moments made me feel the way I did when I played on the Xbox 360 or even the PS3.

This new generation of consoles has been a big disappointment so far in my opinion. Every new game that releases is filled with bugs and fps issues. Playing on 30fps is no longer acceptable to me because I’ve been spoiled by PC gaming. The only reason to own one would probably be for their exclusives, but we all know that just about every Xbox exclusive worth owning can be brought on the PC in time.

We’ll probably never get Halo or all of the Gears of War games, but I’m okay with that. The only game I really want on the Playstation 4 is Bloodborne. Everything else can be brought on the PC and that’s where my point is. Why should I waste money on  console when my games look better, run better, play better, and I have access to more games?

I really wanted to like this new generation of consoles and maybe I would have if I would have never started gaming on PC, but so far it’s been really disappointing to me. Consoles will always have their exclusives to try and get people to buy into their brand, but as it stands right now none of them have been able to really draw me in with anything that they have to offer and I don’t think they ever will.

I’m not looking forward to what the future holds for Playstation or Xbox. I’ve never been a big Playstation fan. I’ve always leaned more towards Nintendo and when the first Xbox released I fell in love with it. When the 360 released it was a instant buy for me. I got a PS3 years after released out of a pawn shop for $50. The only reason why I even bothered was so I could play Demon’s Soul’s and I don’t regret that decision one bit. I had fun on my PS3 while it lasted. I no longer own any of the Xbox or Playstation consoles.

All I need is my PC, and Wii U. Nintendo is smart because all of their games can only be found on their console. That keeps them relevant and I have no problem buying one of their consoles because I know I’ll be getting a ton of games that I can’t find anywhere else, but on their platform and that’s going to keep me coming back to Nintendo for years to come.

When I owned my Xbox One I had fun, but when 2015 rolled around I went 6 months without purchasing a single game on it. When I realized that I wasn’t using it anymore I knew it was time to get rid of it so that’s what I did. I really miss playing Killer Instinct on it, but it’ll be PC eventually and with this cross play that Microsoft is trying to pull off I might even be able to game with all of my console friends one day.

I know everyone has their preferences and that’s okay. If you disagree with me feel free to let me know why.

If you’re a die hard console gamer keep on gaming and having fun with your platform of choice. This is just one guy’s opinion on the subject.

Bloodborne is great, but it’s not worth buying an expensive console for just one game. Dark Souls 3 is due out soon anyways, so that should satisfy your From Software needs.

I play mostly on the PS4 and Vita because because those systems are home to the niche Japanese stuff I enjoy. PC gaming is great, but I normally stuck to consoles because my computer isn’t very powerful.

Nintendo do have the best exclusives without a doubt. When the NX comes out I may splurge on a cheapo Wii U to try out all the cool titles I am interested in (Xenoblade, Mario Kart etc.)

Thanks for commenting on my latest review by the way. If you want to find my full thoughts on Rune Factory 4 feel free to click the link below :-

I’m sure Bloodborne is a great, but like you said it’s not worth spending $400 for. I think the Wii U will be quite cheap around December because of the NX so that would be the perfect time to get one imo.

I understand your view on PC gaming. If I didn’t own the powerful rig that I have now I would probably be the same way.

I’ll definitely check out your Rune Factory 4 review.
