What I've Been Up To 6

I’m Back With Multiple Updates on My Health, My Blog, and What I’ve Been Up To The Last 10 Days!

Spread the Word!

It’s been quite some time since I last posted anything. This month hasn’t been great for me. I’ve been sick since the year started and I’m still trying to get healthy again, but the good news is I can finally start writing again. I missed it and I’ve spent most of the time away learning how to run this blog.

I was a little overwhelmed when I made the move from WordPress to A2. The number of things I had to do to get myself up and running again was a lot. I went through hundreds of plugins, security protocols, and various other things that I’ve never done before. It was a lot to take in, but I took my time and told myself that as long as I don’t break drakulus.com I’ll be okay. I took it one day at a time and kept learning bit by bit until I felt comfortable to change things. I haven’t changed much yet, but in the coming months, I plan on doing a lot of things. A name change might even happen, but I don’t want to rush things. I’m going to keep learning and taking things one day at a time until I’m comfortable enough to take the next step.

I haven’t been healthy since before this year started. I got sick back in November and it’s been one set back after another. If I don’t have a fever I’m having some sort of allergic reaction and if that’s not happening I’m getting massive migraines that keep me in bed all day long. It’s been hard and today is the first day in a long time that I sort of feel like myself again.

On the gaming side of things, I’ve put about 40 hours into Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn. I’m enjoying it, but I’m not in love with it. My main problem with it is that I’m forced into playing alone because every quest that I do requires me to leave my party and do it alone which is the opposite of what an MMO does. I also don’t like the questing system. It’s very boring and the main quest isn’t much better. ESO has it beat in just about every category right now and I’m considering going back to that game after my subscription expires. Maybe I’m just not into dated MMOs anymore. Final Fantasy XIV is an old school MMO and I can understand the appeal to it, but I’m not sure if it’s for me yet. I’m probably going to put another 40 hours into it before my subscription expires so it’s  $15 well spent in my opinion.

Global event 4 for The Division released not too long ago and it’s gotten back into it. I’m grinding for all the new gear sets before the event expires. I’ve already gotten all of the cosmetic items that are available so all I have to do is focus on getting as many GE Credits as possible before I run out of time. Hopefully, RNGesus is good to me because I’ve been getting nothing but kneepads lately.

The final game that I’ve been playing is brand new. I went out of my comfort zone and purchased Subnautica. I am not a fan of survival games. They’re overly difficult and don’t do a great job of introducing the player to their mechanics. Subnautica is different. It even lets me disable certain features that I don’t like, but I wanted the true experience and kept everything on for my first run. I don’t know if I like or hate the game yet, but I only played it for 20 minutes, but the fact that I want to jump back in and continue playing it is a good sign.

You’ve probably noticed that I’ve changed the way my blog looks again. I figured that since I was leaving WordPress for a new host I would start fresh with another new look. I actually paid for this one and over the next few days/weeks, I’ll be adding to this theme as I post more content here.

What have you guys been up to?

Health stuff sucks. I hope things improve for you in 2018. There is nothing worse than having a strong ambition/drive and being stymied because your body is too afflicted to take care of it. It’s infuriating. I’m glad you were able to work out the bugs with the move to a new platform at least.

I need to play that sample of FFXIV I downloaded on Steam. I’ve been neglecting that and my new PS4. I keep wanting to sit down and play Doki Doki Literature one weekend, and I just don’t get around to doing it. I was hesitant about FFXIV because of the collaborative nature, but then I found out that they’d improved from FFXI and most of the quests didn’t require it. It sounds like you have the opposite problem where you want that collab.

I finished Mario Odyssey finally after more than three months and am currently in post game trying to collect more Power Moons so I can leave the Mushroom Kingdom. I also started watching one of my favorite Let’s Players play it, and holy crap did I miss a LOT. He got like 40 moons in the Cascade Kingdom alone. Once I can go back, I’m going to have to make up for what I missed. I tried to do it all without checking any guides though, so eh.

I’m feeling much better today. This time of the year is usually really rough on my health. I’m just glad the worst of it has passed and I can focus on getting better.

FFXIV encourages solo play over grouping up. I don’t mind that, but the only reason why I’m playing this game is so I can play with my wife. Leaving the group every 15 minutes isn’t fun for me or her and we’re considering going back to ESO or Path of Exile. Maybe the end game of FFXIV is more team oriented, but I don’t know if I’m going to make it that far yet.

I got tired of Odyssey after 15 hours. I don’t know how anyone can collect hundreds of moons without getting bored. I quit after 250 :). My kids love it and have completed the game twice so I guess I got my money’s worth.

I know the winter is hell on my joints. Hooray for early onset arthritis ugh. I’m glad the worse has passed for you!

Ah, yeah…see that would irk me, too, if that was the reason I picked it up to play. It sounds like they really went to cater to the people who hated the cooperative play of FFXI so they made sure that wouldn’t happen in FFXIV.

Bahaha yeah, there are a shit ton of moons 😀 I’m easily entertained and love finding things, because I’m terrible at it, so I’m still digging around the sandbox kingdoms looking for stuff. I also would take long breaks in between playing it and play other stuff then I’d think, “Huh, where am I in Mario Odyssey?” pick it up and find like three more. If your kids are entertained you definitely got your money’s worth!

I have to remember I need to go directly to your blog to reply now hehe. I can see your comments on WordPress, but it wouldn’t let me reply there, and apparently I can’t reply on my original comment after you’ve replied. Ah well, I know you’re more than astute enough to know what comment I’m replying on.

Arthritis runs in my family so I’m sure I’ll have it one day too. I’m not looking forward to that day :(.

My wife and I played FFXIV for about 2 hours today. We did two low level raids together and had fun. We also did some random quest that didn’t require us to leave the group. The game is a lot of fun when we can actually play together. Then I had to leave the group to continue the story missions and advance in the Lancers Guild.

I’m like that too with Mario. I couldn’t bring myself to do that with Breath of The Wild though. I ended up trading that in for money towards Monster Hunter Stories.

That’s strange that it won’t let you reply. I integrated WordPress into my blog to make it easier for my followers to find me and comment. I’ll have to take a look into that to see if there’s a fix for it. I’ve been super busy trying to migrate all of my 1500 post from WordPress to my new host, but it’s harder than I thought it would be.

I’m able to reply on your blog proper, but it is odd that I can see your posts in my WP newsfeed. It might be a WP problem, which is hilarious since you left WP for reasons such as this *shakes head*

I haven’t played a Zelda game in years. I mostly watch them. Since I got BOTW for Christmas, I won’t lose out on any money, and I’d probably end up regifting it if it doesn’t hold my interest or I’m too much of a noob to not die all the time.

That is hilarious :). If it makes you feel better I can’t respond to you from the WordPress plugin I have installed on my blog. I have to go to my admin page and click on comments to respond to everyone or go to each individual post and do it that way. I think it’s a bug with WP and with this plugin I’m using, but it’s also the only plugin that let me migrate all of my WP followers over so I guess I have to deal with it for now until I can find a fix for it.

Breath of The Wild isn’t for me, but I hope you love it. I want survival games to stay away from my Zelda games and I just don’t love this game. I miss the old Zelda titles.
