It hasn’t been too long since we got Far Cry 4. I’m honestly a little surprised that another one has been announced already and it’s got me thinking about the future of the series.
Is Far Cry going to become the next Assassin’s Creed for Ubisoft? Are we going to get one every year or two? I think this is a legitimate question to ask because of how fast they’ve been pumping out games lately.
All of Ubisoft’s latest games have problems on release day. This is especially true to the PC port of their games and they do next to nothing for months to fix the PC port of their games. Assassin’s Creed has become like sports games. There’s one, some times, two a year and they’re never really great and they’re always plagued with bugs from being rushed out the door too early.
Ubisoft is not a good company anymore. It’s all about making money with them now and I don’t trust anything they release anymore. Far Cry 3 was a excellent game. Far Cry 4 was good, but was more like Far Cry 3.5. Far Cry 2 was the best in the series in my opinion. Far Cry Primal is nothing like previous Far Cry games. That might be a good thing and it might be a bad thing. Is this just like Blood Dragon or is this going to be a massive Far Cry game that’s not titled Far Cry 5?
Far Cry Primal already sounds like it’s reusing the exact same gameplay elements that both Far Cry 3, and Far Cry 4 had. Going around an open world, skinning animals, taking over bases, etc. I’m not sure if I want to play the exact same game again when there are other titles releasing around the same time as Primal.
One thing I’ve learned over the years is to never buy Ubisoft games on release. Give them a few months to work out the bugs and make sure you wait for the inevitable downgrade. Rainbow Six Siege has definitely been downgraded since we last saw it in action. Ubisoft hasn’t learned a thing….
I don’t get why people are so quick to bash on a company like EA, but give Ubisoft a free pass. I like EA, that’s right I said it, they’ve changed a lot over the years and they’re trying to earn our trust back. Ubisoft the on the other hand is doing the exact same crap that made us hate them in the first place. Hopefully I’m wrong about Far Cry Primal, but I’m not going to get excited about this game. I’m going to wait a good month after release before I jump in and start playing.
I’m also not sure how I feel about playing a Far Cry game without guns. Take away the guns from Far Cry and you pretty much take away what Far Cry has always been about. I can play the Elder Scrolls if I want to shoot a Mammoth with a bow…
Are you getting Far Cry Primal? Is Far Cry without guns something that appeals to you?
