Jay Cutler Should Sign With The Dolphins and Here's Why

Spread the Word!

There aren’t many good QBs in the NFL right now. Two of the biggest QB names aren’t with any team and it’s not exactly their fault.

Colin Kaepernick doesn’t have a team because he kneeled during the national anthem. That topic still pisses people off and gets their blood boiling whenever it’s brought up, but what exactly did he do wrong? Nothing. That’s a topic for a different day because it’ll make this article an extra 1,000 words long if I go into now.

I feel like Jay Cutler was forced into retirement because of the media. Everyone was quick to jump on the “Cutler needs to go” bandwagon because the media didn’t like him. Let’s ignore the fact that he was the reason why Chicago was somewhat relevant. When he was a Bear they didn’t have a great record, but at least they won more than 3 games a season. Just a few years ago Cutler led the Bears to a 10-6 season. Cutler isn’t an amazing QB, but he does make some plays that your average QB can’t. Are you telling me that trash like Brian Hoyer, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Josh McCown are better than Cutler? How Blake Bortles, Jared Goff, and Brock Osweiler? No one in their right mind would choose any of those guys over Jay Cutler. I would put him over at least 18 other dudes that play the quarterback position right now.

Cutler is officially retired, but Miami is showing a strong interest in the 34-year-old QB and I want him to sign with them. Jay Cutler will have a great defense, solid offense, but below average offensive line. If Cutler agrees to play with the Dolphins they’re going to need to protect this guy and that could be a problem. Jay Cutler could have one of his best seasons on this team. They won’t dethrone the Patriots, but if he signs with the Dolphins they’ll be a solid wild card team that might surprise you in the playoffs.

I can imagine Jay Cutler throwing a dart down the field to Julius Thomas and Jarvis Landry. Jay Ajayi can also take some of the pressure off of Cutler by powering through defenders like he did all last season. The big question is will he have a repeat performance or fall off a cliff this season? The recent news of him having a concussion isn’t good, but it’s not going to keep him out all season long.

Jay Cutler is a solid QB that can hold the fort down until Ryan Tannehill comes back. What If Jay Cutler outplays Tannehill? That would be an interesting QB battle, wouldn’t it?
