The second game I bought yesterday was Ever Oasis. I didn’t get around to playing it until this morning and I have mixed feelings about it.
Ever Oasis is a game that I’ve been curious about since it released. I never bought it because there were so many other games that I wanted to play before this one. Ever Oasis is… not what I expected it to be. I like the creativity and the way I have to build up my Oasis, but I don’t like the gameplay, cheerful music, and boring locales. I’m not very far into the game yet, but I’m not sure if I want to go further. I might just go get my money back while I still can. I do love the graphics. The oasis is very beautiful and I love the way my character’s home looks. I like that I can craft new weapons and clothes to wear, but that’s all this game has going for it right now.
One problem I have with this game is the long tutorial. I don’t have complete freedom to do what I want yet and that bugs me. I’m still being introduced to new mechanics and it’s a really slow start. I don’t like when games do that to me. It took me awhile to get into Xenoblade Chronicles 2 because of this. I might tough it out and continue playing. I don’t think this is a horrible game. I’m enjoying it a little, but I’m not in love with it. I like managing my town and talking to the NPCs, but I can do that in Dragon Quest Builders… I’m not trying to shit all over this game, but I’m having a hard time thinking of something that I really like in it. My character is only level 4 and so is my oasis. I have decent gear, but I know I’m going to need to upgrade my gear soon because I don’t do much damage in battle yet. I like how certain weapons do more damage against certain types of enemies. I like solving the various puzzles that I’ve come across in the desert too. Some puzzles can only be solved by having a certain character in my party, but I didn’t get access to party building until the end of my gaming session. I’ll probably update this once I play some more to see if my impression of the game changes. I hope that this game gets better because I really love the aesthetic and owning my own desert oasis is really cool.
What do you think of Ever Oasis?
