Lets Talk About! Playstation 4 9

Lets Talk About My New PS4!

Spread the Word!

After waiting for almost 5 years I finally decided to preorder myself a Playstation 4! This is my first impression of the console, controller, and Spider-man!

It’s almost been 24 hours since I added Sony’s Playstation 4 to my family of consoles. It’s sitting right next to my Nintendo Switch and it’s the best looking console I’ve ever seen. I love the color and simple design of it. It’s a bit on the heavy side and (so far) it’s not very loud at all. The only thing I heard was my daughter softly snoring in her sleep while I played Spider-man with my headset connected to the controller so I wouldn’t wake her. The Dualshock 4 controller is a major upgrade from the Dualshock 3. The control sticks feel good and while it’s no near as great as the Xbox One controller I have more positive to say about it than negative right now. The grips feel great in my big hands and I (sort of) memorized the different control scheme in just a few hours. I still press that big ass touch pad instead of the start button and it annoys me because I have huge fingers and my thumb presses both the start and touchpad at the same time :(.

My new console is sexy. There’s no other way to put it. Take a look –

I love the color, design, and game.

Not everything is all rainbows and butterflies with the PS4. I wish it was, but there are some things I don’t like. I don’t like sending messages with my controller. I found a fix for that and downloaded an app on my phone that lets me text from there. I don’t like the store. It’s hard for me to find games and I keep getting lost. It’s just a jumbled up mess and it’s hard to navigate. When I’m downloading something my PS4 slows up and lags on the main interface. Thankfully, it doesn’t affect the games I’m playing, but it’s still really annoying. Another really feature is the share button on the controller. I have to go through multiple menus to share anything. I don’t think I’m going to be using this feature at all because it’s time consuming and completely takes me out of the game that I’m playing. On Xbox all I have to do is hold the Xbox button down, on my PC I have to do is press F12, and on the Switch all I have to do is hold down the capture button for video or just tap it for a quick screenshot. Why is it so complicated on PS4?

My overall first impression of my PS4 is mostly positive. The only real complaints I have is with the Playstation Store and the lag when I’m downloading something.

I’m really liking Spider-man right now. I love the gameplay and I think Insomniac Games nailed his personality. When Spider-man started narrating himself while swinging around the city I burst out laughing. This game is beautiful, has a good story (so far), and awesome gameplay. I don’t like any of the mini games and the side quest are a bit dull, but I think this is the best Spider-man game I’ve ever played and it’s a great introduction to my PS4 too. I have Horizon Zero Dawn and I can’t wait to jump into that after I’m done with Spider-man. Spider-man has a lot in common with the Batman Arkham games. The only difference is that Spider-man fights differently than Batman. I actually prefer the gameplay in this game over the Arkham games because of how quick and loose Spider-man fights when compared to Batman’s fighting style.

My favorite thing to do in this game is swing around the city. It’s beautiful and I love how well Spider-man is animated. The web-slinging is realistic too. He doesn’t just shoot his webs up into the sky and swing. You can actually see the webs on the buildings and if there’s nothing around you to swing from he can’t swing. What I don’t like about this game is all the quick time events and puzzles. I turned them both off so I could get back to the fun stuff. The story is interesting right now and I want to see what happens next. I’m about to go against Electro and I can’t wait to play it again later today.

I’m really enjoying my PS4 right now. I already like it more than the Xbox One and I’ve only owned it for 24 hours. Do you have a PS4? What are favorite games on it? I’m open to recommendations :). And if you own Spider-man what do you think of it?

Wow, very special. I love my PS4 too, as plain as it is lol. Favorite games on there are the SoulsBorne stuff, Destiny, and Tomb Raider. I have sooo many more I have to get through!

Uncharted series are a good shout, and Spider-man is awesome! as a huge Spider-man fan this was the game I was looking forward to most.

The web swinging is on point, its so much fun traversing New York with it that I don’t even bother using fast travel. I like all the easter eggs they have in the game too, and collecting the backpacks is a nice insight into this Spider-man’s history. Also the Just the facts with Jameson, is hilarious. I agree Insomniac have definitly captured the essence of Spider-man, I cant wait to complete it and then jump back in on the harder difficulty.

Spider-man is great. I shelved it for Bloodborne though :), I’ll go back to it eventually. I’ve never been an Uncharted fan. I played the first 3 games on PS3 and didn’t complete a single one of them.

That’s fair, Bloodborne is on my backlog at the moment. But I’ve been recommended to give a try, so will probably be up next if I’m done with Spiderman before Spyro comes out

I’m a huge Dark Souls fan and when I saw Bloodborne in a pawn shop for $10 I had to have it and so far it’s living up to my expectations :).

Spider-man has a great story! I’m not sure how much longer the game is, but I’m loving every bit of it.

Congrats on getting a PS4. Glad to hear that you are enjoying Bloodborne and Spidey. If you like JRPGs I recommend Persona 5.

Persona 5 is on my list, but I’m going to wait for a price drop before jumping in :). I need Dragon Quest 11 too.

Ahh! I still have to friend you lol. I have to make sure I do it on the Switch, too. If you ever get Mario Kart (or have it already) we need to race! It’s the only multi player game I have and it’s been a while. Congrats on the system! I’ve been a Sony girl since the first PlayStation dropped. It had FFVII; it had to happen, though I actually played that on PC first. I got my first Xbox about a year ago, but I haven’t even turned it on yet. I know I will eventually because I wanted it for Lost Odyssey, which I’ll get around to playing one of these days.

I sent you a friend request on both systems. I can resend them if you didn’t get them :). I do have Mario Kart, but I don’t have Nintendo’s online service so I doubt we can play :(. I plan on getting the service when Pokemon releases though.

I do have PS Plus and if you own some multiplayer games on that I’ll play with you :).

Lost Odyssey is amazing btw. One of the best JRPGs ever made. It’s a shame there was never a sequel.
