Lets Talk About! PC Xbox One 1

Lets Talk About Sea of Thieves!

Spread the Word!

This game seems like it’s been in development for as long as the Xbox One has been a thing. Sea of Thieves is finally here and it’s the worst game I’ve played this year so far.

I didn’t expect to play something worst than Dragon Quest Builders so soon after reviewing it. It didn’t take long for me to get tired of playing Sea of Thieves. It started off bad for me and only got worse as I kept playing it. Instead of letting players create their own pirate we’re forced to choose from some really ugly randomly generated ones. The character models are ugly and look really last generation. I went ahead and chose some old dude just to get the game started. Sea of Thieves doesn’t appeal to me. I don’t like the graphics, character models, voice acting, or riding on my own ship. There’s no point in buying new loot because it does absolutely nothing for you. There is no progression in this game and that made hunting for treasure completely useless to me. Playing online isn’t much better. Instead of being bored alone I can be bored in a group. Either way, I’m still bored out of my mind and the only I could think of while playing was jumping back on any of my other games.

The gameplay is terrible. Fighting skeletons is a chore, digging in the sand for treasure is a chore, moving around is a fucking chore because nothing in this game is fun to do. The only thing this game does well is water. The water in this game looks amazing. The way the waves move around and affect the way the ship moves is amazing. That’s one thing Rare knocked out of the park in this game. I just wish they put that much effort into the rest of the game. Once you accept the first few missions in the game you’ve done everything it has to offer you. Harder tiered missions are the exact same as the easier ones. The only difference is instead of digging up 1 treasure chest you’ll dig up 2 or instead of killing 2 skeletons you’ll have to kill 4 of them. I know there are special enemies that I’ll eventually be able to fight, but I’ll be honest with you. I’m not going to bother with it. I’m done with this game and I’m really glad I didn’t pay for it. When I owned my Xbox One S it came with three free months of Xbox Live and a free month of the Xbox Game Pass. That deal saved me from buying this shit.

I’ve played early access games with more content than Sea of Thieves. It’s lacking in content, has terrible gameplay, and some really pretty water. If you want a nice view play Sea of Thieves because that’s the only thing it’s got going for it right now. If you want to have some fun play Assassin’s Creed Black Flag or any other Pirate game out there. I went in this game with low expectations and it still ended up disappointing me. Add in the server issues that this game launched with and you’ve got yourself the worst game of 2018. I hope Microsoft has some more games up their sleeve for this year because this game isn’t going to make everyone rush out and buy an Xbox One. I think I’ll just wait for Skull & Bones. Hopefully, it’s not as disappointing as Sea of Thieves. I don’t know if I’m going to review this game or not. I don’t think I want to put in the number of hours required for me to write an in-depth review of the game.

Have you played Sea of Thieves? What do you think of it? Am I crazy for not liking it?

Oof, well that sucks. I’m sorry you had to spend money on that, BUT I’m glad I’m not the only one who really wasn’t into Dragon Quest Builders. Thankfully, I only downloaded the sample for that, and I stopped playing not long after the first person wandered into my little “town.” It just didn’t really appeal to me. I’ve never played Minecraft, and while I love RPGs, DQB just seemed more tedious than anything else. I’m mad because my little character was adorable. Clearly Sea of Thieves could take some customization tips from that.
