Lets Talk About Super Mario Odyssey!

Spread the Word!

I know I’m late to the party, but I finally got around to playing Super Mario Odyssey and it’s great so far!

I had to push my purchase of Odyssey back because I decided to buy Fire Emblem Warriors first and it turned out to be a quality purchase that’s given me close to 50 hours of gameplay. Super Mario Odyssey is a great game and I’m only 2 hours in. I just made it to the water kingdom after completing the desert one.

I’m really digging the level designs. Everything looks fantastic and the boss, while simple, are pretty cool. They still go by that same three hit to kill formula that’s been in just about every Mario game ever made, but it’s fun so I don’t mind it. Looking for new moons can be tricky, but, once again, I don’t mind it. This game is relaxing to play and my entire family is having blast with it. My favorite feature is how everything seamlessly goes from 3D to the classic 2D Mario style gameplay. It’s awesome and I can’t wait to see how crazy things can get later on.

Right now my only complaint is the camera. It makes some things pretty tricky to do and I’ve died a few times because the camera decided to snap to a different angle while I was navigating my way through a puzzle while controlling a Bullet Bill. The world map is gorgeous and so are the various different locales I’ve been to so far. Mario is animated perfectly. You can even see him holding his breath underwater.

Collecting all of the coins have a purpose now. They’re not used to get extra lives in this game. Instead, you can spend them on new costumes for Mario to wear. I have three full costumes for Mario to wear and each of them looks really neat. I can’t wait to get the Doctor Mario costume. Hopefully, I can even throw some prescription pills at goombas too.

Odyssey is fun. I’m really enjoying it and I can’t wait to play it again later tonight. Nintendo is having an awesome year, aren’t they? First Breath of The Wild and now Super Mario Odyssey. What’s next? Well… here’s to hoping Xenoblade 2 is just as good. I’ll admit that I don’t love Breath of The Wild as much as everyone else, but it was still a damn good game that’s definitely going to be in my top 10 this year.

What do you think of Super Mario Odyssey? Do you like it? Do you hate it? Let me know!

Loving it as well! The main story isn’t very long – I think I’m less than 10 hours and I’m right near the end. Going back and finding all the Moons will definitely prove to be a blast.

That’s a little disappointing to be honest. As long as there’s some substantial end game content I’ll be happy. I expect games I pay $60 for to at least have 40 hours of content in it.

Oh, there’s tons of end game content. From what I can tell, the game was made with the story to be “part 1”. Tons of awesome stuff happens 🙂 don’t be disappointed!

Awesome! I just made it to the city and have no clue how much longer the story is. I’m enjoying every second of it though 🙂

Like others have said, there is quite a bit that unlocks after you are done with the main story, and collecting everything in the game can easily take over 50 hours.

Collecting new moons and replaying old stages is nothing but filler to me honestly. I don’t plan on hunting down all of them or putting 50 hours into this game like I did the last 3D World.
