Lets Talk About The Elder Scrolls Legends!

Spread the Word!

I’ve been addicted to this game for the last few days. I haven’t touched any other game except this one and I decided to share my experience with everyone.

After trying out Gwent, and uninstalling it a few hours later, I was upset because I couldn’t find a good card game to play. Gwent could be a good game one day, but right now it’s not so I moved on. After completing a bunch of games I took a break and decided to start playing with my psychical set of Magic cards and that’s when I remembered that I had this game installed on my PC.

10 hours later I’m totally hooked on this game and I’ve battled my way through the story, spent hours building 2 good decks, and battling people online. I’ve experienced a losing streak and today, after many hours of deck building I experienced my first winning streak. I won 5 straight matches before I lost my first one and then went on another 5 game win streak. I even got my wife into the game and I watched her complete story mode tonight and I beat her ass shortly after that because she thought her story mode deck could beat my competitive one :).

After our first match my wife went and built herself up a deck and we battled each other for 3 straight hours. Deck building is a huge part of this game. It’s important to try and be as balanced as possible. I made a deck centered around orcs and I was very surprised at how well I played with it competitively. Orcs fight well together. Most orc cards give bonuses to other orcs and it can quickly turn the tide of battle. They’re not very expensive and can kept the battle in my favor until I got my stronger cards lined up.

The Elder Scrolls Legends is free to play and gives you the option to buy new cards with real cash or gold. Earning gold is incredibly easy to do and so is getting new cards. I have over 70% of the cards, before the Skyrim update, and I never dropped a single dollar on the game. Once I spent the time to learn the game mechanics, and I learned what playstyle suited me best I started to win matches and gold at a faster rate. Playing in the arena is probably the fastest way to earn gold if you feel like battling the rng gods for a good deck to use in there.

The amount of strategy that goes into winning a tough battle amazes me. I haven’t had this much fun since I quit playing Magic a few years ago. It doesn’t matter how much health I have left or how many cards my opponent has on the field there’s always a chance that I can win if I play my hand right. One time I was down to 10 hp and my opponent still had a full bar of 30. Once they had exhausted all of their cards I decided to strike with my stronger ones and I came back and won the match. I love playing against other people and checking out their unique strategies in battle. So far I’m the only person that’s been rolling with a full orc deck and taking advantage of their synergies. Well…I’m the only person that I’ve noticed doing it so far. I’m sure there are some really good orc decks out there that can probably destroy mine.

If you’re not a big competitive player and just want to enjoy playing by yourself you can do that. This game has a full story mode, and solo arena that you go to and win gold from. It doesn’t force you to play against human opponents unless you want to.

If you want to get into a game like Hearthstone, but without all the pay to win bullshit try this game out. It’s far from a Hearthstone clone and is a lot of fun to play by yourself, and with friends. Just about any potato can run this game too.

Have you played The Elder Scrolls Legends? What do you think of it?

Been hooked on this for a while too, but decided to take a break after playing a few games with the Skyrim update. That set is starting to put in heavy power-up combos, the sort of thing that started to turn me off from Hearthstone. Wondering how long it will be before it gets too out of control. Prior to the Skyrim decks, it was pretty damn great.

Sounds good. I have invested so much time into Hearthstone though that I don’t think I could dedicate myself to another card game.

I know how feel. When the Magic games were good I invested a lot of time getting good at those games. It takes many hours to get good at a CCG game and throwing away all that progress for another one is hard. If you ever need a break from Hearthstone I’d recommend trying TESL :).
