Lets Talk About The For Honor Controversy!

Spread the Word!

The year just started, but it’s already full of gaming controversies. Mass Effect, Zelda, and For Honor immediately come to mind, but For Honor is in the most difficult position in my opinion and I decided to address the issue with everyone.

It seems like everything Ubisoft does, or doesn’t do, these days are immediately noticed and hated by many people. The latest Ubisoft game to go under fire is For Honor. I really like For Honor. It was the first game I reviewed this year and it scored really well with me, but it does have some issues that was never addressed by Ubisoft and a pretty expensive cash shop. Players have been outraged ever since the total price of everything in shop totaled up to over $700. That’s a lot of money to throw at anything and to have your microtransactions cost that much is ridiculous. Players have come up with a way to get Ubisoft’s attention by boycotting the game on April 3rd.

The boycotty already has thousands of players agreeing not to play For Honor for a full 24 hours. Some people are suggesting that the boycott last a lot longer. Ubisoft, obviously, couldn’t ignore such a massive thread so they answered and said that they’re working on addressing the negative feedback that For Honor is receiving right now.

I think it’s admirable that so many gamers have come together to let their voices be heard about a game that we can all agree has a very expensive cash shop. It’s bad enough that we paid $60 for the game itself. If this was a free to play title I don’t think anyone would have a problem with all of the microtransactions that it is. Black Desert has a expensive cash shop. It cost up to $30 to buy a single costume, but it is a free to play game. What’s For Honor’s excuse?

I’m adding my name to the list of players that are boycotting For Honor because I think it’s a good cause and I love that gamers have actually come together to speak up about this. To make sure that I’m not tempted to play I’ve uninstalled the game from my PC and I probably won’t reinstall it until after I complete both Breath of The Wild, and Mass Effect: Andromeda.

What do you think of this situation?

Seven hundred dollars is crazy. Then again some Hearthstone players pay that much every year to get all the cards on offer.

Great article and good to see gamers taking a stand against this nickel & dime nonsense.
I fear though Ubisoft will do little more then play lip service to their grievances’.
