Lets Talk About The Gifted!

Spread the Word!

If it’s not a Netflix show I usually don’t waste my time with other shows on TV. I watched some of The Gifted on Hulu the other day and it’s pretty good so far.

I was extremely skeptical when I started watching this show. I had just watched a streak of mediocre shows on Hulu and I was considering canceling my subscription and sticking to Netflix. I had gone through Lethal Weapon, Runaways, Sleepy Hollow, and some stupid zombie show that’s a teenager version of The Walking Dead. I had given up and was expecting this to be just as mediocre. I’m 5 episodes in now and I’m enjoying. It’s not the greatest thing ever, but I love how it ties into X-men and it gives me a little hope that maybe Marvel won’t completely fuck it up.

The Gifted is a solid show. There are some stupid moments like when the dude’s daughter dies right in front of him from an explosion, but he didn’t have a single mark on him even though he was caught in the blast with his wife. The cast isn’t great, but they’re solid and I do want to know what happens next so I guess that’s a good thing. The action is actually pretty good. Everyone’s powers are cool and I think my favorite character is the Magneto chick. She’s a fucking badass that’s not afraid to get her hands dirty.

I like how the police are with the mutants. I thought this would be a watered down version of X-men lore, but it’s not. The cops will kill you in this show if you’re mutant and they don’t care how old you are they’ll lock you in a prison and keep you there until you die or get shanked by another prisoner… which is still dying so… yeah…

The Gifted is much better than I thought it would be. If I had to rate it on a scale to 10 I’ll give it a solid 7 with some 8 moments tossed in there. The cast of characters is the weak point for me, but I love that this is set in the X-men universe. I know Marvel is going to include the X-men and Fantastic 4 in their cinematic universe and fuck everything up, but hopefully, that won’t affect this show too much.

Have you watched The Gifted? What did you think of it?
