The last 20+ hours of my life has gone into Breath of The Wild and it’s really good so far.
Take everything you know about Zelda and throw it out a window. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild is a open world game that mixes different elements from many other games into it’s own unique flavor. In many ways this game is a breath of fresh air for me. The open world genre has been cluttered with games these last few years, but only a select few can be called great. With a little over 20 hours of gameplay I can already call Breath of The Wild one of the great ones. It does everything really well and has the best weather system in any open world game I’ve ever played.
I actually have to prepare for my travels in this game. I can’t go to a snowy area wearing a t-shirt and some pants like I can in Skyrim. I have to eat the right meals, wear the right clothes, and even have the right weapons. If I want to climb a mountain I’ll have to make sure I’m wearing light armor because trying to do it in heavy armor would slow Link down. There’s a lot to do in this game and none of it is boring or feels like filler to me. The majority of my time was spent exploring and getting to know this new, massive Zelda game.
There are no loading screens outside of the temples and whenever I do have to sit through one it never last more then a few seconds. I do have some minor issues with the game right now. I wish there was a better way to fish in the game then blowing them up with bombs. Having a fishing rod would have been really neat. It would also make for some pretty great screenshots too. I also wish that I could craft my own arrows because I’m always short on them. There are other things I could list, but I’m going to save them or my review.
I’m loving Breath of The Wild right now. It’s everything I hoped it would be and I can’t wait to jump back in it later today.
Have you played Breath of The Wild? Do you like it?
