So Microsoft just sort of announced a new thing for Xbox and it’s pretty huge. So… lets talk about Xbox all access!
So this new all access thing lets us rent a Xbox console, Xbox Live, and Xbox Game Pass for a monthly fee. At first I thought this fee would be quite high, but it’s not. You can get an Xbox One X, Xbox Live, and Xbox Game Pass for $35 a month. That’s right I said $35 a month. Lets compare that with some other businesses like Buddy’s and Aarons.
For an Xbox One X bundle with Aarons will cost you around $139.99 a month. I don’t know about you, but I’m not willing to add that to the rest of the bills that I’m paying right now. I could use that extra money for other shit…
Buddy’s doesn’t even have an Xbox One X deal, but they do have the Xbox One S and it goes for around $71.99 a month. That’s not a terrible deal, but it’s more than twice the amount of the Xbox All Access.
Microsoft is doing a good thing right now. They know that they’ve lost the console race this generation, but, in my opinion, they’ve won the consumer race. Microsoft has done a lot for the consumer this generation by introducing some really neat features. The Xbox play anywhere, Xbox Game Pass, EA Access (the thing Sony still doesn’t want), cross play (another thing Sony doesn’t want), and now this. All the Xbox needs now is exclusive games, but that’s a topic for another day. I’m on board with this and I might even order myself a Xbox One X when this goes live. The only downside, from what I’ve read, is the two year contract, but it’s only $35 a month (with taxes most likely) so it’s not as bad as Aarons up there.
What do you think of Xbox All Access? Is it enough to make you go over to Xbox? Is it too late? If you already have an Xbox what do you think of this?
Some more details on Xbox All Access has been released and it pretty much killed my interest in the program. The all access page has gone live on microsoft.com that gives more details on what all access is and how you can sign up for the program. I don’t mind having to sign up for that Dell Preferred Account to make monthly payments. What I do mind is only being able to go to a Microsoft store to get my new console. I checked Google maps and the closest Microsoft store to me is 84.6 miles from where I live. I’m not driving that far to get a damn console. The credit check isn’t a problem for me, and making another account isn’t a problem for me. Why not just let GameStop hand these things out?
