I was hoping that the new Windows 10 interface would overhaul the Xbox Marketplace in a good way. It didn’t… When I looked on my friends list and saw my friends playing the Battlefront Beta, I’ll tell you guys all about later, I wanted to play too so I went to the Xbox Marketplace to find it.
I couldn’t find it anywhere. All that shows on the homepage of the marketplace is new releases, and most popular games. There are no categories for me to click on whatsoever.
One thing I love about Steam is how easy it is for me to find what I’m looking for. If I want to play a strategy game all I have to do is click on the strategy game option on the top of the page and it’ll show me all of the strategy games that Steam has. Why doesn’t Microsoft do something like this with the Xbox One?
The Xbox Marketplace, and Playstation even though I think the Playstation Store is a little better to navigate, is a pain in the ass to navigate. It’s one of the reasons why I don’t buy games for my Xbox One. The last game I purchased was The Witcher 3 for both Xbox One, and PC. I downloaded them both and only completed the Xbox version of the game.
That was months ago. I’m most likely going to get Battlefront on my PC just like I do all my multiplatform games. Everything about the Windows 10 makeover is fantastic. It has a few bugs that need to be worked out, but I expected as much and it’s not really a big deal. It’s small things like party chat that give me minor problems.
Hopefully Microsoft will keep tweaking the Xbox Marketplace and add some categories to it over time because right now I really don’t like it.
What do you guys think of new Xbox dashboard? What do you think of the marketplace?
