Saints Row 4 Review

saints row

I know said I wasn’t going to give this a chance but I figured if I could stomach playing GTA V then i’d might as well give Saints Row 4 a shot too and i’m glad I did. I went into this game with a very negative mindset, this game is different then every Saints Row game that’s come before but it works. Saints Row 4 had me laughing, and wanting more at the end of the day. There is a lot of content here, you can get super powers, which bugged me at first because it’s a Saints Row game not DC Universe, Saints Row 4 throws back to old school games that I played growing up, like Streets of Rage. I love Streets Of Rage to death. That stage alone had me praising this game, there’s Tron elements in the game, The Matrix, tons of comedy, and very deep customization options. I spent hours just creating my character, I even customized my car and that’s usually something I avoid doing because you don’t want me driving in these kinds of games. There are so many customization options available, I had must have went back to the plastic surgeon 10 times just to fix a feature I didn’t like on my character.

The gameplay is actually very smooth, It sucks that you can’t take cover like you can in GTA V but since I have super powers I don’t need to. I can literally run around the city owning everyone with my bare hands. You get super strength, lighting, ice, fire, telekinesis, and more available to you as you progress through the game. The beginning of this game has to be in my top 5 favorite openings of all time for one reason. While I was climbing that nuke my favorite song by Aerosmith started playing in the background, I don’t want to miss a thing, that instantly got me in the mood to play the game and I was having a blast. Fast forward five more minutes and the freaking white house is being attacked by aliens. That shit was awesome! Shooting enemies in Saints Row 4 is very solid, I love the animations, and the variety of weapons you can get throughout the game. Aiming is easy, and smooth, driving is also very easy and I had fun driving around town in my own customized car. I love the way I can get a new ride in this game, since everything is a simulation you can just tap the N button and save the car you’re driving for later, I no longer have to travel all the way back to my garage just to get my car back and that’s awesome. Running and jumping from building to building in this game is amazing. I wish DC Universe had the gameplay that Saints Row 4 has because it would still be on my laptop right now. Using super powers is so badass in this game. Buying upgrades to run faster, jump higher, or just something like taking up my gun damage, or resistance to fire is awesome.

The story in Saints Row 4 is simple, you save the world from nuclear attack and you become President of the United States of America. You’re in your second term and everything is going nice and peachy until you’re attacked by aliens and you meet Zinyak. At first I didn’t really like him, he was just your average villain but he really stepped it up a notch later in the game. He’ll cut in to your radio stations and sing the songs, or just do a long speech and I thought it was excellent. I loved just about every scene I saw him in, I think if I updated my top ten characters of all time list he would be on there. That’s how much I loved his character in this game. Going inside the simulation, I just call it the matrix, to rescue your friends and save Earth is a lot of fun. Romancing your teammates is hilarious, you can make love with a floating robot! I laughed so hard when I asked one of my squad members to have sex with me, she punched me in the face,  then jumped on me.

Saints Row 4 really surprised me, I thought I was going hate but ended up loving it. The only thing I really don’t like about the game is being the president. You don’t really make any decisions throughout the game as the president. I really wish Deep Silver would have put more focus in you being the president then a super hero. The soundtrack is also lackluster when compared to Saints Row 2. I only really like 3 or 4 of the songs being played. Other than those minor gripes with the game I loved every minute of Saints Row 4 and I can’t wait to see where they go with this franchise. My final verdict for Saints Row 4 is a 9/10. Saints Row 4 has my recommendation and I highly recommend this game to everyone that’s a skeptic about it. Far Cry 4, and Prince Persia News

Ubisoft has announced that there is a Far Cry 4 in the works because of how well Far Cry 3 did last year. Far Cry 3 has sold 6 million copies by march of this year. This is what the senior vice president, Tony Key, had to say on the subject:

“We’re totally psyched from [Far Cry 3]. It’s a great brand, and now it’s got the recognition it deserves, so we’re clearly going to make another one: more on that soon.”

He also announced that Ubisoft is sticking with their open world format in their future titles as well. I for one am very excited about Far Cry 4. While news on the game is very limited right now i’m sure that we’ll hear more in the months to come on where it’s taking place, and who the main protagonist is going to be.

The Ubisoft exec also asked all of us Prince Of Persia fans out there to be “patient”, they know that Prince of Persia is still alive in our hearts, and that we want to see more Prince of Persia games being made. This is what Tony Key had to say on the subject:

“Prince of Persia, it’s got a really strong legacy with Ubisoft and it’s still there,” he said. “We have nothing to announce, but, you know, we haven’t sold it off or given it away, so be patient. I know that’s hard.”

Meaning that we probably won’t see another Prince of Persia game anytime soon but who know, they might just be working on one now and saving the official announcement for a later date. I am very excited about news on both these games, even if the news if pretty much nonexistent at this point, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for both of these franchises. As long as it’s not another Assassin’s Creed game being announced i’m good. Don’t forget to click that Follow Us button for the latest news, reviews, first impressions, and more. Dragon Age Inquisition news and screenshots

Since Dragon Age Inquisition is coming out next year here are some screenshots and news regarding the game.

Dragon Age Inquisition has been pushed back to October of next year. This is both good and bad. It’s good because this means that they’re taking their sweet time in making this the best Dragon Age game to date. It’s bad because I want to freaking play it! I have to wait a whole year just to get my game. Seriously though the game looks amazing and I have very high hopes for it.

The reason for the year delay is because Bioware has finally decided to add different races in the game. That’s right Elves, and Dwarves are coming back to Dragon Age. I don’t know why they ever left but this is great news and I can’t wait to see them in action. Another good thing in my opinion is Dragon Age Inquisition at least from what I can tell from the screenshots isn’t as graphically compelling as…

Grand Theft Auto V Review

Grand Theft Auto V is the highly anticipated sequel to GTA IV. GTA V has three main characters that you can switch between any time you want. There’s Micheal, Trevor, and Franklin, each character has their own unique personality and missions centered around them. While none of them are very interesting they do however have very good voice actors. Just about everyone in the game that you’ll meet has great voice acting which you’ve come to expect from Rockstar. The gameplay in GTA V is the best it’s ever been, you’re no longer so stiff anymore while you’re shooting at someone, and your characters movements are more responsive, you can finally swim again in GTA, I have no idea why it was ever removed but they’ve brought it back and you can literally swim your hearts out. GTA V is a big game, the biggest GTA game to date. There is a lot of content to keep you busy but honestly I found myself ignoring a lot of the mini games, like golf, and just focusing on exploring, and completing my missions. Driving around in GTA V is just like in other GTA games. Don’t be fooled here, while they did make some improvements with the driving mechanics it still does have it’s fare share of problems.

Speaking of problems lets talk about the frame rate issues that are in this game. When you’re driving around town, which you’ll be doing very often, the game slows up. This happens every single time you’re in a lot of traffic and it bugged me. It’s not so slow that it’ll ruin your experience but it has to mentioned. While the gameplay itself is solid it’s still lacking in terms of the actual shooting mechanics itself. It is a big improvement for the series but not enough for me to want to be in a long, drawn out gun battle with anyone. GTA V is a beautiful game, the amount of detail that’s been put into everything is amazing. The lighting is very well done, I did notice some issues with the shadows, if you ever played GTA IV then you’ll know what i’m talking about. There were some texture issues, they’ll fade in and out at times when I was driving too fast or in a big crowd. The sound effects in the game are ok, it’s nothing that’ll amaze you but they get the job done. The story is forgettable at best, I found myself not really caring what was going on in the these characters lives. I really don’t like Trevor, or Franklin. I honestly zoned out during most of their missions and was just focused on finishing them up instead of paying attention to what was actually going on. Micheal is alright but that’s all that can be said about him.

gta v

There is a lot of profanity in this game. While it doesn’t bother me personally I highly advise not to play this game around children at all. There are a lot of fucks, dicks, and rape jokes in this game. After awhile It started to annoy me because the profanity is there just to be there. Keep your kids away from this game unless you want them repeating what they’ve heard one of these guys say. You have been warned, there are also those annoying scripted chase scenes that i’ve always hated being dragged into. It takes away the feeling that i’m in this open, sandbox world, and makes the game feel linear at times. It got to the point that I knew when a chase would happen and how it would go down in the end and that’s not a good thing. The amount of customization options available to you in this game are great. You can customize your cars, and your houses but I honestly didn’t even look at the options available to me because i’m always wrecking my cars anyway so there’s really no point. Customizing my house I never cared for because i’m never home long enough to do it. I would much rather customize my own personal character over a car, or house any day.

GTA V is an improvement over previous titles but in the end the best GTA experience i’ve ever had goes to San Andreas. The gameplay is solid, the soundtrack is what you would expect in GTA, the graphics are beautiful but have bugs, and issues with the shadows that should be fixed, and the game itself is a definitely a step up from GTA IV. My final verdict on Grand Theft Auto V is a 6/10.  Don’t forget to click on that Follow Us button for the latest news, reviews, first impressions, and more. I hope you enjoyed reading this and if you did i’ll have more for you real soon.

Total War Rome 2 Review

It’s been a long time since I said I was going to do a review on Rome 2. I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to write but the game was literally unplayable on it’s release day. I have put over 50 hours into this game since it’s release, does Total War Rome 2 dethrone Shogun 2 as the best game in the series? Lets find out…

Total War Rome 2 pic

When Total War Rome 2 works it’s an amazing game, but I have to take into account the countless bugs, and game breaking glitches in this review. But how much should they affect the actual score of the game? If a game is literally unplayable then as a reviewer I should lower the score because I didn’t enjoy my first 20 hours I put into this game. My score would get corrupted and I would have to start all over. That’s not cool Creative Assembly, we, as gamers deserve better than what was given to us on release day. It’s not entirely their fault though, we all know that Sega pushed this out the door before it was ready to be released. I’m sorry about getting sidetracked there but it had to be said.

I have yet to experience Total War Rome 2 on max settings because the game won’t let me. I’ve never been too much into graphics but I do like to enjoy them. What’s the point of having a kickass rig if I can only run the game on medium, high after their latest beta patch. Total War Rome 2 introduces a host of new features that have never been implemented in any other Total War game. You may now win the game through culture, and economy. You’re not forced into though so if you want to play it the old school way then go ahead and wipe everyone off the map. Managing your cities is a lot easier now. I wouldn’t exactly call it dumbed down because there is some depth to it. Now each province you have under your control has their own food, and public order instead of each individual city. This makes things easier so you can just focus on more important things like conquering the world. To maintain order in each province you’ll need to maintain your food supplies, and build some buildings that help maintain your public order. If your citizens get too unhappy then you’ll face a riot, which in turn can affect how your own leaders feel about you. If things continue to get out of control then you’ll be faced with a Civil War.

Another addition that’s been added in the game is skill trees. You may choose what your civilization may research {like in Civilization V} and you’ll complete that project in a few turns. It’s the only way to advance your military, and economic power in the game. Unlocking new skills allows you to build new things that gives you access to new units, or improves your food surplus throughout your provinces. If a town is giving you a hard time build some siege weapons and show them who’s boss. The a.i in Rome 2 is broken, I’ve been in battles where the enemy would charge my front lines, turn around and run away repeatably. I would just sit there and laugh as they continued to do this over and over again. Another thing that’s happened is my men refusing to climb ladders, running in circles around each other, and even retreat from the battlefield before the battle actually started.

Naval battles are completely broken right now and I highly advise you to auto resolve all of these until they’re fixed. Ships move way too slow, and there’s literally no point in building stronger naval battleships because your normal ships that troops pull out of their ass is stronger than every ship in the game. Another huge problem with the Rome 2 is how fast the battles are over with. Who over at Creative Assembly thought it would be a good idea to have battles that have over 20,000 men end in 5 minutes? As soon as a battle starts and you charge the enemy it’s over. There is no extra thought required for you to win. Do you think the god awful a.i is going to come up with a way to beat you after you’ve broken their frontlines with a well placed Calvary attack? Nope, it doesn’t work that way, sorry.  With all the problems with this game why do I still love it? It’s because what makes Total War so great is still in this game. When the game works it’s amazing, gaining the tactical advantage over your enemies is still satisfying and brings a smile to my face when I completely dominate an unwinnable battle.

Total War Rome 2 has everything in it that makes a great Total War game. It just needs some polishing, Sega should have never forced this game out the door before it’s original release date. Graphically, Total War Rome 2 looks a little better then Shogun 2, if you can actually fix your graphics. I’ll post a link below after the review for those of you that are still having graphical issues with the game. I love the way the units move around the map on their horses. It’s a lot faster then in Shogun 2 when they walk everywhere, the combat animations are the best they’ve ever been in this franchise. When the battle actually starts and your troops are clashing with the enemy the animations are really good, and very well executed. Even after you when the battle you’re treated with the two generals finishing off their little duel on the map with a nice finisher at the end if you managed to kill the enemy general during battle. As it stands Total War Rome 2 is a mixed bag, in it’s current state I can’t give it my recommendation. I can’t recommend a buggy game to anyone, the game performs a lot better now then it did on release but it’s not there yet and that’s why my final verdict for Total War Rome 2 is a 6/10. I’ll update this review at a later date after all the bugs, and glitches has been fixed. If Creative Assembly can fix this game then i’d happily give a 9/10. I love this game but I can’t let that cloud my judgement on it. Rome 2 is a mess right now and I can’t justify giving it anything higher then a 7 for now. Grand Theft Auto V First Impressions

I’ve been playing GTA V for about 2 days now and this is what I think of it so far

GTA V is what I expected it to be, a Grand Theft Auto game.  You can rob people, kill people, shoot cops, steal cars, rob convenient stores, etc. Rockstar has added a bunch of new features to the game. I haven’t touched multiplayer because i’m not a multiplayer person so this is only from the single player perspective as of right now. You can customize your cars, guns, and you can purchase your own property. You can switch between three main characters to play as at any time you want but, and this is a usual thing with GTA, the characters suck. They always write these dumbass characters to be the main protagonist in their games. Why? I don’t know but I’m not surprised by it. Why not just give us a character creator this time around for the single player like all the Saints Row games do?
GTA V is a beautiful game, it’s not the best looking game out there but it’s definitely one of them. The amount of detail they managed to put into this game is breathtaking. I drove around town for an hour just admiring the scenery. That’s a first for me in a GTA game. But, that’s really the only thing that interests me in this game so far. The story is ok, i’m not going to spoil it for those of you who didn’t order through Amazon. I’m honestly not surprised with Rockstars latest installment of the GTA franchise. I’m doing the exact same thing i’ve done in all of them… and it’s boring. Maybe it’s because i’m older now and things i thought were awesome back in the day brings me no enjoyment now. Robbing stores, stealing cars, and doing ok missions isn’t enough to get me to recommend this game to anyone. While the level of customization is a thing, it’s not enough for me to get sucked into this world. Rockstar has done little to try and get people like me, who’s never been a fan of the series, to buy the game. Having good car customization means nothing to me, I can customize my own gun in any decent third person shooter these days so what makes this any different? If I was to score this game right now it’ll get a solid 6. I’ll have my official review of the game up in the next day or two with all the details until then click on that Follow Us button for all the latest news, reviews, first impressions, and more. I hope you enjoyed reading this and if you did i’ll have more for you real soon.

Volgarr The Viking Review

Volgarr The Viking attempts to recapture the magic that 90’s games had by making a sidescrolling, hack n slash game. Did it work? Not exactly, Volgarr The Viking is a mess of a game. The controls are weird, and the gameplay itself really sucks. I really did try to enjoy this game because in a way it reminded me of Golden Axe but the more I playey Volgar The Viking the more I hated this game. The level designs were alright, I didn’t mind the actual stages, some of them were actually pretty decent but everything else about the game was an utter failure. You start the game wearing armor, or lack there of, a shield, sword, and throwing spear. Every time you take damage a piece of equipment falls off your body indicating that you lost some health.

This actually annoyed me because I don’t like losing armor when I get hit. A simple health bar would have been good but i guess that’s too much to ask for. You can throw you spear against walls, this allows you to jump on it then double jump over the obstacle that’s blocking your path. The boss battles feel cheap because the gameplay mechanics are broken for the most part. Performing the simplest actions are a pain in the ass. The soundtrack to this game is alright, it’s nothing breathtaking but it does it’s job for the most part. I really wanted to like this game, I love old school arcade games and when I saw the trailer for this game I had to buy it just so I could see if it could live up to the hype. Sadly it didn’t, it didn’t make me feel like I was playing any of the great arcade games from back in the day. The only thing that made me feel like it was a throw back to 90’s games was the graphics and honestly they hurt my eyes looking at them.

My final verdict for Volgarr The Viking is a 4/10. This game is below average in every way possible, from the gameplay, to the lame boss battles. Just because this game looks retro doesn’t mean it’s a throwback to 90’s game. It’s the bare minimum and I hope people stop making these types of games. Aarklash Legacy Review

I have put a little over 10 hours into this game and I have mixed feelings on it. While the game can be fun it’s also repetitive, and sometimes even boring. The gameplay in Aarklash could use some work, there’s very little strategy in it. All it boils down to is you walking around with four characters, you see some enemies, the game pauses so you can select your skills, rinse and repeat for hours and you have your game. Not much more can be said about the gameplay, so how’s the story? The story in this game is just average at best, the organization that you work has been banned as outlaws and there’s a price on your head. You have to fight your way through hordes of enemies so you can clear your name. I honestly didn’t give a crap about any of the characters, or what was really going on in the game to begin with.

The voice acting is so bad it gave me a headache just listening to them talk. While some characters were just ok, everyone else made me want to grab a hammer and bash them in face until they slowly bled to death. There is no customization whatsoever, you find items on the ground after you kill enemies but you don’t actually see your appearance change. Every character only has access to four skills, that’s it, every time you level up you get to choose which one of the four skills you want to advance in rank. Another problem I had with the game was with the dialogue itself. It was a little hard for me to understand what some of the skills did because the dialogue didn’t explain it properly. It’s like trying to learn a foreign language for the first time. The only thing that kept me going in this game is the gameplay itself. I like the gameplay, it could use some polish but it’s not bad. The graphics also grew on me after awhile but I don’t know if i’m going to let that affect the score of the game itself.

The autosave feature is just downright annoying. I can literally make it to the very end of a dungeon that took me an hour to get through and if I die i have to start all over again. It took me an hour to realize that by pushing F5 I can actually make a quicksave and save myself some time and a lot of headaches. My final verdict for Aarklash Legacy is a 6/10, Aarklash is an above average game that I found very little enjoyment in. If a sequel ever comes out they’ll have to do something groundbreaking for me to want to purchase this game again. Don’t forget to click on that Follow Us button for more awesome content. I hope you enjoyed reading this and if you did i’ll have more for you real soon.

Skywind is a very large mod for Skyrim that let you go back to Morrowind. It is a very large mod, about 2 gigs i think, Morrowind is more beautiful then it ever was. As of right now there are no quests available for you to do right now but just being able to travel there with my Breton was a treat for me. Morrowind is one of my favorite games and seeing it with better graphics was awesome. Here is my very first screenshot after I stepped off the boat.

I can’t wait until this mod is finished, as of right now none of the npc’s have clothes, and most of them don’t even have voices. You have been warned, this mod is still in alpha testing but I couldn’t help but love running around with a huge smile on my face.
