First Impression Lets Talk About! 5

Rogue Company Is A Terrible PVP Shooter With Cool Characters

Spread the Word!

I don’t know what I did to deserve 5 copies of Rogue Company, but the developer of this game sent me 3 Xbox One keys and two PC. I used one of the two PC codes and almost instantly regretted it. Rogue Company is a boring, third person, pvp, arena shooter with no imagination behind it.

The only good thing I can write about Rogue Company is that I really dig the character models in this game. They have personality and dress nicely. That’s it. Everything else was a complete and utter waste of my time that could’ve been spent on literally any other game. I played two of the characters for about two hours and I don’t really have anything good to write about this game. The controls are very hit or miss (even on PC) and I had to drastically increase the aim sensitivity because it was so slow that I often died a lot because of it. There are only two modes in the game right now and they’re both fairly average. There’s some sort of demolition mode that tasks you with dropping off a bomb at a marked location on the map.

The problem with this is that no one ever cared enough about the boring objective to try and complete it. Every team I was a part of ignored the bomb and just rushed in and killed each other. This game also punishes poor play even if you win the match. The way I played was by turning off voice chat completely (because I had no interest in talking to random people) and did my own thing. If that led to us winning then good. If it didn’t I honestly didn’t give a shit. It’s not like I can hear people complaining to me anyway.

My biggest problem with the game is the gameplay itself. It’s not good. Everything plays in third person while some guns that you unlock zooms in to first-person when you aim down the sights. Think Ghost Recon, but way shittier and you’ve got Rogue Company. The other game mode is called Strikeout and this is your standard team deathmatch that allows infinite respawning until one of you wins. Both modes are fairly bad and this game (as of right now) lacks content. There’s nothing here for me to sell you on. If you’re crazy, you can buy one of the founders packs and get access to the game… or you can just message me for a key and I’ll give it to you on either Xbox One or PC.

I can’t put into words how frustrating this game is. I know it’ll draw in those competitive shooter type crowd, but even then I think most people will run out of things to do in this game fairly quickly. And it’s also weird playing a competitive shooter in third person to me. I just don’t like it. I was hoping there would’ve been some sort of horde mode or campaign in the game since the trailers kind of gave off that impression to me. There’s nothing like that here. You’re either doing demolition or team deathmatch until you get bored and move on to something else.

And that’s my experience with Rogue Company. I have no idea why the developers thought it was a good idea to send me FIVE keys to this game. No one I know wants it (believe me I tried giving this shit away) and I have no idea what I’m supposed to do with the extra keys. Rogue Company is probably the worst game I’ve played this year so far. It’s up there with Minecraft Dungeons and Gears Tactics anyway.

I’ve also been finding a lot of the MP issues you talk about here in Modern Warfare too; where people play for kills and not the objective. In that game I think the main problem is the majority of unlocks and goals are tied to kills so people are more interested in farming kills that winning games. Hoping that may change in the future but hard to tell…

It really stinks because if we all worked as a team we could win our matches with ease. Instead, everyone just rushes and forgets all about the bomb we’re supposed to plant and defend. The gameplay isn’t as refined as CoD’s and it’s weird playing an arena shooter in third person. It just doesn’t work for me.

It amazes me how few people do feel like playing as a team. When a bunch of friends and I jump into CoD regularly we surprise ourselves with our success rate. Might die a lot but if it wins the game we don’t really care. 🙂

Appreciate your honesty with these reviews. This definitely looks like a game I will pass on for the time being.

Working as a team and getting the W is often more rewarding than a good kill/death ratio in my opinion. Especially if it’s an objective-based team game. If it’s team deathmatch then you’ll obviously want to die the least amount of times to help your team win, but no one plays like that anymore. It’s about rushing ahead and getting those kills now…

I try to be as honest as possible with the games that I write about. Even games that I don’t like I try to at least write some positive about if that makes any sense.

Hey there guys with some updates and some streamers now on the game im sure the majority of you will realize that as a competitive standpoint the game is above and beyond. So basic yet so advanced, no running off walls or jumping 2 miles, so aim shoot and take cover with team mates moving to objectives. That is what all competitive guys have said for so long yet for the kids u have
